I have been searching for years for the parents of my 5 great grandparents, Thomas BOWMAN and Jane RHOADES/RHODES/ROADS. According to the bio of their youngest son, Moses Bowman, Thomas and Jane were both born ~1767 near the South Branch of the Potomac River, VA. I have info on only 3 of Thomas and Jane Rhodes Bowman's children.  Surely there were others.      Their known children were: Charles, b~1797, married Catherine Cochran, on 23May1816 inTyler Co. WV.  Charles Bowman died in 1871 in Allamakee Co. IA . Moses: b1812 in Wheeling, WV md 1)Nancy Miller 2) Mrs. Sally (Gadbury)Warner in Vermillion Co. IN. Moses Bowman died 23Mar1891 in Vermillion co. IN. Maria : married Stephen BAINBRIGE  22Aug1839 in Vermillion Co. IN;   Thomas Bowman and son(s) were boat builders in the Wheeling WV area on the 1820 US Census.  They moved to the Vermillion Co. IN /Vermilion Co. IL area in the late 1820's along with several inter-related families from Catherine Cochran Bowman's side:  Morgan,Cochran and Prickett and others.      I still suspect that Thomas' father was Charles Bowman. BUT I've found no more info on him other than crumbs such as a Charles Bowman was listed in the Tax rolls for Hampshire Co in 1784 and one served with M. Cresap in Dumore's War. A John Bowman of Fredrick MD. had a son Charles who did not go to TN with his brothers, but nothing more is known of him.   I have heard from someone in the Williamsport MD. area that there are BOWMAN's still in the area  and I plan to conctact some of them to see if they are descendants of Charles Bowman. Or if they have any connection at all to my Thomas.   A possible father for Jane Rhodes is a Henry Rhodes/Roads found also on the Tax rolls of Hampshire Co. 1782 and 1784.   Thanks for all suggestions. Susan
