My 4greatgrandfather was Henry Purgett of whome Purgittsville is named after. The info I have is that he was born in Franklin Town Maryland in 1753 but don't know how or where to find records. He bought land,400acres, on the waters of Mill Creek on Jan.7,1785 next to John Moffatt and John Glaze. He married Elizabeth Fiedler(Fidler) , we think in 1794 after her son Jacob transfered some land to her which she in turn transfered to Henry. He was 41 at the time but lists 7 children. Maybe he was married before and some of these are from his first wife, need any info on how to get birth dates of the 7. ,or any other info anyone has. Thanks. Diane Kleinke (Purgett)
