Hi Shirley, I am researching the PARKER family. My paternal grandmother was a PARKER. I am looking into the several Parkers of Hampshire Co. to see if I can connect them with my Parkers of Allegany Co. MD. They lived so close to Allegany Co. I have found many Hampshire/WV names on Marriage List here in Cumberland courthouse. Back in 1700' and early 1800's they just seemed to hop the MD--VA/WV line. I am trying to find proof that my Maryland "Parker" family is extension of the the WV Parker family. Think there was a JOHN PARKER who married HANNAH PETERS, they had son and grandson named ROBERT---same as my gggg-grandfather who had land here in MD. I did find 3 Land Deeds of WV Parkers having land here in Allegany Co. MD. We were Washington Co. MD until 1789, when Allegany Co. was formed from Washington Co. I know there were Swearingens and Cresaps here in Allegany Co. They had land in what is now called Cresaptown---but back in 1700's was called Upper Oldtown. And Oldtown, MD was once called "Skipton" My Robert Parker grandson was named GEORGE BYARD PARKER. (Could have been Byrd/Bird, but mispelled over the years.) Will just keep digging----hoping for that one hint that some WV Parkers spilled over into Western MD. Thanks for answering, and Good luck with your search Pat Hook ---------- > From: s2ee@juno.com > To: WVHAMPSH-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [WVHAMPSH-L] Swearingen and Cresap (Claypool/Bird) > Date: Wednesday, May 24, 2000 12:43 AM > > Pat, > I know so little about my Kimberly line.. shame..but I did find a couple > marriages which fit in ..maybe sisters of Elizabeth. > > >From Washington Co Marriages (Ohio) > Maria Kimberly m.
