First of all I got the copy of my 4ggrandfathers pension app. I wanted to add to the bio of him but some of the spelling of names is difficute to read. He served under a Col. Riddle and a Major Vossouter (this name doesn't sound right. Maybe Vanmeter? in 1778. They built 2 forts. one caleed Fort McIntosh at a place where the town Beason? in Pennsylvania. And another at the head waters of Mas Kingdom? called Fort Sourenser? Is there any record of a battle in Hardy Co. in 1781 where men were drafted to fight the Tories? Men were drafted for only 2 or 3 weeks. Other question is has anyone ever read the gravestones in the Purgitt/ High Cemetary in Purgittsville? Sure hope someone can answer or give me some clues.
