Hi, New to List.... I have an ancestor, John Wolford b 1754, that stated in his Revolutionary War pension that he was born in Montgomery County, PA. In 1754, that was still part of Philadelphia County...so he must have gotten word somehow the new county was formed. He served in the NJ militia then moved to Hampshire County, West Virginia. He married Elizabeth Woolever. In the early 1800s, he moved to Randolph County His children are: Jacob, Jemima, Abraham, John, Anna and Martin. His father's name may have been spelled Wolford or Wohlford or Wohlfarth or any other of the German variations. I suspect it was his parents that emigrated from Germany, but I can't find proof. Just not a lot of early information due to requirements back then and also the destruction of records. I have a lot about his later life and his children is anyone is interested in sharing. Regards, Diane
