    2. Dear Listers: I am reposting my lines to both Allegany and Hampshire Co., WV lists. I haven't been here in a while but I have come across some new information. Upon my return from WV this past weekend, I had a chance to visit two long, lost family members. My cousin Becci and my Aunt Mary Slider. I found out a little more stuff from both of these fine young ladies. In the Oldtown Cemetery in Allegany Co., MD, there are buried Carders. I know that George Carder, son of Abbott Carder, came to Allegany Co ca. 1820s. Becci explained to me that Springfield (?) is about 15 minutes from this graveyard and it seems like a logical choice for someone coming to Allegany Co about that time. So, I am now beginning to wonder if these Carders aren't related somehow to George Carder and Maria Hansborough. I will be looking into get death certificates for them to see if I can connect them somehow. I didn't get them all [for lack of film] but hope to soon. I will not be going to MSA until July 29th [hopefully] to do look ups on these Carders buried in Oldtown Cemetery. So, I should know more soon. >From Aunt Mary, my suspicions have been confirmed. In the transcription that my friend and I have done [so far] on the Zion Greenmount Cemetery [Allegany Co., MD], I have found a Lina Robinson two rows behind where Channing [my great grandfather] is buried and she is indeed the sister of Channing Lee Jones. So, that would make Vance who I thought he was---Channings' wife, Margaret, sibling! So, now I have not only found Channing's sister, but Margaret's brother! Thank goodness. I have only been able to locate [now] three of Margaret's siblings and [I believe] most of Channings. However, I still have not search census records for Channing. But, I have also been told that the family came from PA! I am still unsure of what she said about his birth place but now I know I must move on to PA to find his ancestors. Also, Aunt Mary has given me some photos of Margaret, Channing, Carl [their oldest son] and a few others--Lina being one of them. She also gave me a photo of Harry Davis. He is the son of Nancy Robinson and William Davis, both of Hampshire Co., WV. Nancy is another of Margaret's siblings. But, I haven't been able to find anything on this line. There is no birth notation on Nancy in any of the birth books for Hampshire Co. that I could find. I also have not been able to find her in death records but I know from having this picture that they had to be somewhere and did have children. Can someone give me clues on what happens when someone has no birth record? What are the procedures when one must file a delayed birth record? Would that be found elsewhere? Maybe another book that I haven't looked into? Has anyone else had this problem, too? Aunt Mary does say that Twilly (?), another descendant of Nancy and William still lives in Hampshire Co., WV but I have no idea of where. So, there had to be more children than just Twilly and Harry. Guess I will have to look at census indexes again. Maybe I missed it in my mad rush in WV. Thanks for any input anyone can give me. Tina McKie Baltimore City, MD
