Hi Genie, Thank you for the Book References! I see your aware of John Dietz Perry. Do you connect to this family in any way? I've got 3 cesus' on John Dietz Perry: 1870 & in 1880 there were 2 enumerations. Here's some notes on Michael Perry: NOTES: 1. All the books, biographoes and encyclopedias on John Dietz Perry seem to have copied each other and state that Michael Perry, "was a native of Pennsylvania, but removed to Hampshire county, Virginia (now West Virginia) about the year 1805, and owned and operated a flour mill on the South branch of the Potomac river. While his brother, John, bought a home further south and established himself in South Carolina." 2. Michael's son John Dietz Perry's 1880 census states that his father was born in VA. and mother in MD. 3. On a 2nd census in 1880 John Dietz Perry states that his mother was born in VA. (Hmmm?) 4. Michael's wife Rachael Bartholow died 9 days after the birth of her second child Thomas Washington Perry. The children John Dietz Perry and Thomas Washington Perry were left in the care of their maternal grand parents Thomas Bartholow Jr. and Ann (Nelson) Bartholow. It was thought that Michael died whithin a year of Rachael's death about 1817 or 1818. But, just a few pages away from finding Rachael's marriage license in Allegany CO., MD., I found a 2nd marriage license to Elizabeth Jones in 1818 also in Allegany CO., MD. and Michael is in the census of 1820 in Hampshire Co. (W)VA his name is spelled "Perrey". I also found Michael Perry on the 1830 census in Hampshire Co., VA. But using Ancestry .com the transcriber placed his name in the search engine as "Berry" even though his name is in the middle of the "P's'; because the P & e are close togeather. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!?
