    3. This was in our local paper and I thought it might be of interest to someone else. I am posting to the different lists because at that time it was requested that the South Branch Intelligencer copy the obituary. Hope it's helpful. Adina Dyer, Tippecanoe County, IN __________________________________________ Tippecanoe Journal and Free Press February 19, 1846 Lafayette, Indiana Died, in Lafayette, on the 6th of February 1846, JAMES HENRY, son of JAMES S. and CATHERINE HOGELAND, late of Hardy Co., Va., aged 5 years, 11 months. They feel deeply the loss of another of their loved number as their hearts were still stricken by the death of EDWARD, the wound is opened a fresh, and made deeper. JAMES was a remarkable instance of early development of mind, especially in relation to serious matters. He loved the Sabbath School and nothing could satisfy his mind when the circumstances of the family seemed to forbid his attendance. After he fell sick and the Sabbath arrived, he grieved more over being deprived of going to Sabbath School, than over the pains of body under which he suffered. His conversations during his illness, up to the time reason was dethroned, were almost entirely upon Heaven and the Saviour. He spoke frequently of the employment of the blessed spirits above. And when the object that engaged his playful moments in health were presented to him, he expressed and manifested a perfect willingness to leave them all in hope of being soon with Jesus. We fondly hope he sleeps in Jesus, and that his spirit is transplanted from a world of evils to a world of peace and joy. "He died to sin; he died to care; But for a moment felt the rod; Then rising on the viewless air, Spread his light wings, and soared to God. "This blessed theme now cheers my voice; The grave is not the loved one's prison; The 'Stone' that covered half my joys, Is 'rolled away' and, lo! he's risen." ~ South Branch Intelligencer will confer a favor by copying the above.
