Numerous people have asked about a schedule for 2004 activities. I recommend the Historic Hampshire website for information about the 250th anniversary celebration. Presumably it will be updated from time-to-time (we hope). The URL is: http://www.historichampshire.org/ Roberta Munske has the overall responsibility for the year-long celebration. She has tremendous organizational skills for planning and achieving results. The first major task has been completed, i.e. the historical book has been written and in the process of going to the printer-- delivery expected in March. I am not a member of the Hampshire County 250th Anniversary Committee; therefore not a designated spokesman for the major milestones for 2004 (am only involved as a volunteer where needed). However, I will post any announcements on future events that have been made public so that you won't miss anything important. Jane Ailes probably has a better handle on this than I; hopefully she will provide periodic updates. Achieving 250 years as a County is a major milestone, indeed. It would be a good year to visit the County to further your genealogical research. Wilmer L. Gee, what's 250? 100 is a centennial, 200 is a bicentennial, 150 is a sequicentennial - what's 250? I actually thought this was during 2003 and that I'd missed it. Any juicy details? I might like to come visit Mr. Cool Breeze again if the town's gonna do something interesting. (Hiram Pickering, b c 1803, lived in Hampshire County from sometime between then and 1840 until at least 1856; Joseph Pickering, b there c 1841, lived there until about 1861.
