Nothing new, I'm afraid... ----------------------------------------------- French, Janie Preston Collup, The Crockett family and connecting lines. Bristol, Tenn.: Press of the King Print. Co., c1928 This book lists a James Anthony "Asher" Crockett. He md. Sarah Blankenship, dau of Daniel and Sallie Clay Blankenship, in Montgomery Co. VA in 1800. It quotes from the DAR lineage book of 1912, p. 98, "Asher Crockett, 1760-1845. Soldier of Revolution. Served as Pvt. under Capt. Wallis and Kirkpatrick in Virginia line." His widow received a pension, he was b Hampshire Co., VA. DAR Descendant #91,303. Other Crocketts who md. at Christianburg, Montgomery Co., VA in the same time period were children of either Hugh Crockett (1797, 1798) or John Crockett (1799). ------------------------------------------------ Wallace, George Selden, Cabell County annals and families. Richmond: Garrett & Massie, 1935 This one lists an Asher Crockett as alias James Anderson Crockett. Doubt if he is the same one as above. ------------------------------------------------ Stephens, John H. History of Miami County : illustrated. Peru, Ind.: Printed and published by the J.L. Stephens Pub. House, 1896 This one says an Asher Crockett came to Carroll County [IN] in 1830, claimed relationship to Davy Crockett. I think this one was a later one, b Ohio, md. Susannah Plank. ----------------------------------------------- --- Lynda Davis-Logan <GeneaBug@charter.net> wrote: > My one and only name for Hampshire Co. is: > > CROCKETT > > My gggg-grandfather James 'ASHER' Crockett says > he was born in Hampshire Co. > Sept 1760 and that he was bound out/his master > was very cruel. > > Would love to find his parent/parents?? > > Was he bound out to learn a trade? because > there were too many children to > support?? was he an orphan or was his mother > not married?? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
