Thank you Elaine, I appreciate your kindness and advice. I was hoping to find some History as well on early settlers of Hampshire Co. I`ll definately have to check more resources. There was a Phillip Fogle in Augusta Co.,VA on the 1800 tax list. http://freepages.misc.rootsweb.com/~vataxlists/Augusta/1800PersonalB/10.jpg Also a Peter Fogle Corner at Beverley Manor (Deed 19 pg.216) This may be the same guy or father of Phillip Fogle from Hampshire Co. Strangely enough, I checked for the message. That's the good thing about having Norton...it won't let the incurable virus into your machine. It places it into quarantine, then waits for you to submit it to report it to Norton, or simply delete the virus. At this point with all the messages sent to the unsuspecting members, it is possible for a few to be sent without knowledge. One of the best features I like about Norton is the on line support at www.symantec.com they will find any way possible to correct the problems with a users system. I'm glad to hear yours was safe. I have the Hampshire County death records on microfilm. Until sometime after the time frame he's looking for there is very little information in there. I have a 1900 death for a 60-yr-old which fails to mention (a) her maiden name or (b) her husband's name; there is another entry for the same surname which fails to even mention her given name, she's shown as Mrs. X. In many eras, there was no place on the form for the information, it was not requested, not required, not reported. And in one set, for reasons that elude me, it wants Citizenship and length of residence in the county instead of birthplace! Sue, W.Va. counties kept death records which named parents of deceased (& still do), if known by person reporting death. Many pre-Civil War records were lost in the war, but it is worth checking out; there is a good chance that some of Philip's children may have lived until after the war. I would recommend going to your local LDS/Fam.History Ctr. and ordering the microfilms of the death records for the counties in question. If you find any of Philip's offspring in the death records, there is a chance that the parents would be named--and you'll have the name of Philip's wife. To see online what is available for any specific county in question, go to http://www.familysearch.com/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp and do a place search. Type the name of the county (without the word "County") in the "Place" box and the name of the state (written out) in the "Part of" box. Good luck! Thank you Elaine, I do appreciate you sending the Census info on Phillip Fogle of Hampshire Co., I scouted around and found more. If anyone could please add/subtract to this line I`d appreciate it. I would really like to find out who Phillip Fogle`s wife was, and if he had a son named Peter Fogle, wife Annarah [Dent] of Monongalia Co.,WV. Phillip Fogle was quite the virile man or raising someone`s children! I`m curious what happened to John & William Fogle [below]. Since Michael`s first child was born in Ohio, perhaps they moved there. Would appreciate any help with Hampshire Co. records on this line. Sue, The info on Philip Fogle on these three censuses is as follows: 1810, p.794: Under age 10 - 2 males, 4 females Age 10 & under 16 - 1 male Age 26 & under 45 - 1 male, 1 female 1820, p.261: Under age 10 - 3 males, 3 females Age 10 & under 16 - 1 male, 1 female Between 16 & 18 - 1 male (category for males only) Age 16 & under 26 - 2 males, 2 females Age 26 & under 45 - 1 female Age 45 & up - 1 male 1830, p.20: Age 5 & under 10 - 1 male Age 10 & under 15 - 2 males, 1 female Age 15 & under 20 - 2 males, 1 female Age 40 & under 50 - 1 female Age 50 & under 60 - 1 male 50-yr-old Michael Fogle listed in the 1850 Census (pp.194D & 195A, Mineral Div.) is probably one of Philip's sons. On the 1840 Census (p.198), Michael headed the only Fogle household: Under age 5 - 1 female Age 5 & under 10 - 2 females Age 30 & under 40 - 1 male (Michael), 1 female (Michael's wife) Age 60 & under 70 - 1 male (probably Michael's widowed father) Comparing all these dates and ages, you can narrow Philip's year of birth to 1775-1780 and his wife's to 1781-1784. Following are the Fogel/Fogle marriages listed in "Hampshire Co. Marriages of the 1800's": Charlotte Fogel to Benjamin Kervey, 4 Sept 1826 Henry Fogel to Lucretia Harsell, 18 Dec 1823 Henry Fogle to Lucretia Harsell, 25 Dec 1823 Julia Fogle to A. Henry Wolary, who is buried in the Old Quaker Cemetery in Gainesboro, Frederick County, married Elizabeth Rogers October 17, 1811 in Old Frederick County. My grandmother had told me that the Wolary name used to be ULLERY and Dr. Kerns in one of his books also referred to Elizabeth Rogers husband as Ullery. I am trying to determine where Henry Wolary came from or who his parents were. He was born about 1788. Married Elizabeth Rogers in 1811. Moved to Clinton Co., Ohio sometime after his marriage and then on to Auglaize county, Ohio. He returned to Frederick county about 1849 and died there on August 7, 1849 and was buried in Gainesboro.
