(9/11) There are several people in that list I knew. I knew Gene better than any of them... he lived next door to me when I was growing up and I played with his daughters; his mother visited our home often; my uncles and his brothers were friends. He and my late GM shared a birthday -- Apr 15. The entire family had a deep and abiding faith; one of Gene's brothers entered the ministry; Gene made a long-awaited trip to the Holy Land, 15 or 20 years ago, and had a wonderful time. He was a pallbearer for both my GF and my GM. I last saw him at the Reunion in June. Romney won't be the same. Cheryl

That didn't transmit in a very readable form. Jumping Branch was listed as being in Summer Co., WV; it's a populated place, a stream, a school, a valley, a P.O., and a dam, and all on their Hinton WV map. The numbers are latitude and longitude. Best to go to the GNIS site. Karen, Thank you for thinking of me and other researchers who are looking for a detailed listing of the "residents" of Old Pine Church Cemetery. The ladies who visited and listed the cemetery did not do a full inventory. My mother in law, who was buried there in 1971, is not listed. Neither is her brother, although her parents are, but her grandparents are not. These are just a few of the very many graves that are there. And so my quest continues to find someone who knows or can help me find a complete listing. Thanks again, Charlene
Greetings one and all, Today was a good day. It started out nice and sunny then the rain came and then the sun came again. Linda and I headed out to do some cemeterying today. We left Capon Bridge and the sun was out. By the time we got to Springfield, the rain came and we almost turned back. Today we were looking for just a couple of cemeteries, the main one being Grenzeback and Wall Family Cemetery. The directions I was given were adequate, but it only got me into the right area. We found the tracks, but there was a big red gate in my way. So instead of going blind into the woods, we asked around. I came across a very nice lady by the name of Curtiss P. Haines. She was very very helpful. She hadn't been there in years, but figured it hadn't moved. After about 20 minutes of the history of the area, she said for me to go back to the tracks, go down the tracks a spell and the cemetery is just into the woods. When all was said and done, and reality set in, here is exactly what happened. I parked the truck next to the tracks and Linda and I got out and headed down the tracks. Toot Toot. And then a train went flying by. You should of seen Linda's eyes. We were so close to this train, it caught us both off guard, but all went well. We were about 100 yards or so from the truck now. Lots of old RR ties, spikes and other track things laying around. There was a small access road across a 20 foot or so thicket. I figured we had to get to the road to get to the woods. The woods were actually a tree farm of sorts. I don't remember the name. Anyway. We walked down the road to the right about another 100 yards or so and decided that we had gone too far. So we walked back a piece and headed up into the hills and trees. We walked, it rained, we walked, and finally, it stopped raining, and then we walked a little more. I stayed up in the woods and Linda followed me on the road, I thought, but she was in the lower part of the woods looking, she did good. I made a finally trip to the top of the hill, and there it was. 5 stones, and several unmarked graves. When I talked to Curtiss, she told me that many years ago, she thought that there were 20 to 25 stones or graves there at one time. But today, only 5 stones, but you could see where there was the possibility of many graves, with the dips in the ground, no stones. We wandered around the area, but no more markers could be found. I took photos of each stone and we headed back to the truck. I did go to one other gravesite. The Curlett Cemetery. May old stones from the 1700s. As you can see, it is a play ground for the local kids. Lots of Tonka trucks laying around. A good cemetery for a fence. The closest house is about 10 yards or so from the nearest marker. A project for someone. Have a good night. Wayne and Linda of Capon Bridge At 12:04 AM 9/22/2002 -0400, you wrote: >Greetings one and all, > >I have a question you everyone. Greetings one and all, I have a question you everyone. I guess it will be a new subject for my website. Does anyone know of anyones ashes spread in Hampshire Co.???? I know of one, I will make a separate section for them. So I guess what I need is the same a cemetery: Names Dates, and where the ashes were spread. An address or a property name. I think someone asked about this the other day. I just saw this on the Hardy Co. Webpage. There is a listing for this cemetery as stated below. I copied the paragraph from the website. "The addess for Old Pine Church Cemetery is Purgitsville, which is in Hampshire County but it is almost on the line between Hardy and Hampshire Counties. It is the oldest church in the area and graves date back to 1792. This reading of the Old Pine Church Cemetery was made in July 2000 by Barbara Weese and Diana Hambleton, information in "( )" has been added by Barbara Weese" Karen in FL
Greetings one and all, I found one cemetery today. the Old Concord Church Cemetery. It took me a while to find this one, but it was exactly where the local people told me it was at. This place was in very poor condition. A lady up the road said that there was only a few stones readable, and guess what, she was right. After snagging my britches on the barbed-wire, I made it to the graves. I almost missed them. Many trees have fallen around the area. Also look at the main Cemetery webpage. You will see that I have listed as many cemeteries as I have heard about. They are on one pages. Some are duplicates cemeteries, probably named differently. For example: Concord Cemetery - Old Concord Church Cemetery. things like that. Have a good weekend. I will be heading to Springfield tomorrow for a soccer game. I will keep my eyes open for any cemetery on the side of the road, and make a mental note so I can go back to it at a latter date. Yep, wrong county. But thanks for the information. The John Hiett Cemetery is on a cleared hillside, and no Largents The Joseph Hiett Cemetery is also on a hillside, but there the grass is so tall, and trampled by cattle that it is hard to see some of the stones, maybe by winter, I can go back and see if I can see anymore stones at both of the sites. I was told that Lenora, but I thought it was Lenore, was once an owner of the property.
