Cheryl, Just go ahead and send it as is. I will mainly put down the names dates and work on the rest later. As long as there are spaces between the fields and I can tell when one record is separated from another, then it will be OK Wayne At 09:34 PM 10/2/2002 -0400, you wrote: >There's too much other stuff in there. There's too much other stuff in there. I've got a few ready, but I figured you'd rather have 'em all at once than by dribbles? If this cemetery is so huge - are there existing "records of interments" that could be copied in their entirety? Is there not a 'sexton' who maintains some kind of plot plan? Cemetery association? Church records? If you ae going to transcribe all of the graves, what a major 'undertaking' (no pun intended). Good Luck, Clara in NE
Send them to me in the spread sheet. I have Windows Excel and I will try and put them to plain text so you don't have to worry about it. If I can do it I will give you a call. I've got 'em in a spreadsheet; let me see if I can get them into plain-text. There turned out to be not many from the one avenue, but I've got other avenues; they'll take several more days, but presumably by the end of the month. For the info of others not familiar with it, Ebenezer is HUGE. I'd expect a full work-week, maybe more, to walk it. Cheryl, Make my life easy. Could you email them to me, I will put them into the format that I'm using on the website, and will make a note about your contribution. How does that sound. Greetings One and All, Continuing from this weekend. Here is the Middleton Cemetery. Not much of a cemetery, only two people. I will be placing the Timber Ridge listing later this evening. did you see the photo on the webpage? No names, just stones to my knowledge. Give me to fall, and I will take another photo, and maybe rack a little to see if I can find any stones with names on them. Thanks, Wayne, but short of a visit to West Virginia, how do I find out what names are on the gravestones? Or has time worn them away? Susan
I have found a Ralph Umstot b. 1906 living with his grandmother, Elizabeth Kackley in Guernsey Co. OH in 1920. I am following the Umstott line. Can you help me with this? Elizabeth in Texas http://www.dhc.net/~design/gedcom/periman.htm
http://members.citynet.net/rwayne/hampco/kackley.htm I don't know the name of the people that are buried here but it is a Kackley Cemetery near the old Kackley log home. Wayne, Did they move just some of the headstones from the old Presbyterian Cemetery (now the fire dept. parking lot), or did they move graves as well? When I was looking around Indian Mound Cemetery in June, I noticed some old stones in the rear of the cemetery, and I think there was something identifying them as having been moved from another cemetery. I recall that they seemed crowded together, so maybe just the stones (and no graves) were moved. If my memory serves me correctly, there didn't seem to be all that many stones which probably means they didn't move all the stones--a shame. It makes one wonder how they decided which to move and which to trash. "R. Wayne McGahuey" wrote: > I have a new cemetery listed on the website. > Presbyterian Cemetery in Romney, WV....
I have recently discovered that Mary Magdalene Kackley who married David Anderson died at age 47, which would have been in 1844. She probably died in Hampshire County, although it could have been Hardy County. Since her parents and many Kackleys are buried in the Timber Ridge cemetery, I think she might be buried there as well. Her husband, David, and all of their children moved to Illinois in the mid 1850's, so she would be buried alone. Could someone who lives in the area check out Timber Ridge for me to see if she is buried there...or is there someone I can call who would have a record of the burials there? I would certainly appreciate any help trying to locate her grave. It was a mystery to me why she did not go to Illinois with the rest of the family. Now I know why! This Anderson family has been a major brick wall for me but slowly I chip away. Susan
P.S. I forgot to mention. I'm not all that sure where this cemetery is located on Rt. 5. I was told 3.0 south of Three Churches. Next time I go that way, I will look a little better where it goes on the map. Greetings one and all, I just made a couple of updates, but there will be more tonight. As I mentioned Linda and I went out today and drove around the county a bit. Our first stop was at the Three Churches area. Of course there are 3 churches there. One being the oldest church in the county. The other are a couple of Branch Mountain churches. One was the United Methodist and the other was a Baptist. My questions is do they go by any other names then what I put them on the web. Branch Mountain United Methodist Church and Cemetery Branch Mountain Baptist Church and Cemetery. My next update will be the Barnes Family Cemetery. Let me know if you have problems accessing them. Greetings one and all. Linda and I went for a nice drive around the county today.. I guess I'm breaking her in. She likes these trips, but I think I have to go on different roads once in a while instead of the same road for a day looking for one particular cemetery as I did today. She did tell me she liked it when we went out last weekend looking for the Grenzeback-Wall Cemetery, she like the HUNT. Today we drove for a bit, took some photos and wrote same names. I will put out emails tonight and tomorrow as I put a listing of a cemetery out. First, do you remember last month when my provider Raven-Villages folded and I had to switch over to CityNet? In the process I lost two large files, and I'm kind of hoping that someone out there copied them to their computer for there own reference. Please look to see if you have the Timber Ridge Cemetery and the Hebron Cemetery listing on your computer. I need the list of names. If not, I guess I will have to go through my notes again and retype them. Finally, I have a cross a stone today on the road between Romney and Springfield. It means nothing to me, but someone out there related to the BLUE family may. If anyone wants a copy of the photo of the stone, please send me your email address. =================== Fairfax Lot 27 - John Blue Settled c. 1752 by John Blue (Dutch ancestry) of Somerset Co. N.J.
