I have not heard of the Hendrickson name since I saw it in correspondence years ago. There was a brief story you may be interested in and perhaps others could elaborate on it. Jennie Williams Dye [1866-1949] told the story that a Mr. Hendrickson used to come to her house when she was a little girl [?1870's]. He would walk over from Nicholas County and spend the evenings talking to her parents [Albert Gallatin Williams and Elizabeth Adelaide Donnally of Duo, Greenbrier County.] He may have been an ex-school teacher and was depressed about a self defense killing he had been involved in. Her story was that he had very poor sight and he was the butt of local bullies' abuse. One night he was attacked by a drunken man and used his pocket knife to defend himself. Apparently the court did not believe there was anything but self-defense, but he was disheartened by it, and carried the guilt for the rest of his life. Is this any of your kin? I would appreciate it if you would check at the courthouse for any marriage records, especially for Henry and Herbert Hendrickson. >Lana Self >Jacksonville, FL > FL > > >==== WVNICHOL Mailing List ==== >Visit Richwood, WV Homepage >http://www.richwoodwv.com > > >
