We just visited Camp Alleghany last week. It is very much in operation, just as it has been for 76 years. It is on the east side of the Greenbrier River and just north of US Route 60 near Caldwell (between Lewisburg and White Sulphur Springs). Access is from the west side of the river; you drive north on the road on the west side of the river, then cross to the camp via boat or barge. About 200 girls were happily involved in Camp activities. They would have been happier still if there was more water in the river. The level is quite low due to continuing drought conditions.
