Hi Stephanie, Sorry that this took so long to respond to. Actually, I may not have had the information at the time, but "God provides". Thanks to Betty Moutray, I am able to try to provide some clues to solving your questions. I plan to write a series of reports on this family and our connections to it. Will start by listing the children that are listed in "The Hamilton Papers", which were sent to me by Betty. Am always happy for corrections and additions. My information is only as good as the information that I use for compiling these reports. :-) As with other families, I notice that there are apparently some discrepancies and incorrect information. So, hopefully, I will give you the most correct information. To start with, let me credit the source of the "Hamilton Papers". Marilyn Schuelzky apparently wrote a report to John F. Hamilton Jr. There is an address for him, if anyone wants that. The papers include information from letters written by Aunt Ruth Hamilton Carlin, granddaughter of Major William Hamilton. The papers also indicate that Ike Mitchell sent them. And I got them via Betty Moutray. In the process, some compiling has been done, and notes of correction written in the information. By the time I get done, I will have answered my own question, and yours also, I hope. Here are the children who are listed for Major William Hamilton and his wife Isobella Clemmons/Clements: These are apparently listed in age, from oldest male to youngest male. The girls are not necessarily in order. John Hamilton William Hamilton Andrew Hamilton according to report, he was an old bachelor. All of the Major's children married except for Andrew. However; there is a story about a child he had by a girl who lived with them and took care of Ruth Hamilton's grandmother. Jacob Hamilton m. Delilah Jarrett dau. of James Jarrett and Rosanna Vincent of Greenbrier Co. VA. Polly m. Robert Renick III Martha m. William Skiles [brother of Henry Skiles] Elizabeth m. Henry Skiles Ruth Sally m. John Hunter and later John Mathews I will let this list go. Can any Hamilton researchers verify these children and spouses from the "Hamilton Papers"? I will try to make reports on various family members, including some cute stories. Some of it is confusing, because as in other families, names are so repeated. Will report more later. This information takes some digesting to be sure that we are placing the people correctly. :-) I also see some information about Ruth Hamilton Carlin, that she is granddaughter of Major William Hamilton and Isobell Clements. Her father was John Hamilton, who died when she was 4 years old, and she was raised by her grandparents. She had three husband's including Madison Jarrett, a brother of Delilah Jarrett. So, am I right in thinking that Ruth above, listed as a child of the Major's was actually his granddaughter? I believe that I have some information on lineage of Ann Hamilton, which is apparently Margaret's line. I found it in my "files". And Becki requested information about this family some time ago. Found her message in my files. Hope my reports will add something for her, as well. Please, Hamiltons, feel free to jump in here, and add or correct. I am very interested in this line, but only have some information here. Don't have personal knowledge. Stephanie, Let me think a little more about your Sarah and William. I have different marriage dates etc. for them, from the Archer association. I have a Sarah Hamilton, who married William Renick. She had a brother William Hamilton, and a father of William. I am still trying to merge them with the rest of the family. Can anyone help? Who does this Andrew connect to? Thanks for all help. Descendants of Andrew Hamilton Generation No. 1 1. "I have been studying the Renick Book with regards to the BF Renick and Evelyn information, which you presented to the list recently. Can you tell me, if the William H. Hamilton, father of Mary Hamilton, who married Robert Renick III, and William Hamilton, brother of Sarah Hamilton, and son of Andrew, the same William Hamilton? I believe both are described as being Maj. William Hamilton. Thanks for any help. I would like to be able to merge them in the program, if I am correct in this. " I am working on my Hamilton line. I have a Sarah Hamilton that married William Renick 25 Dec. 1790 in Greenbrier Co., VA. I thought this was the same family you were talking about in your post since Sarah had a brother William, and is the daughter of Andrew. The Maj. William Hamilton, if this Sarah's brother, I have nothing about except he was born in 1786. Any help with this line would be appreciated.
