    3. Hi Jo Ann, How are you? I received the response below this, from someone on the List. You had inquired about Clack family. I was going over some McClung stuff last night. Would any of your Thompson people be related to McClungs? In Vol 21 of the McClung Journals, I find an interesting article about a Janet Thompson. There is some thought that John McClung [of Rockbridge Co.], was married to a Janet Thompson prior to being married to Rebecca Stuart. There are all sorts of documents which seem to point to the direction of this John being related to Thompson family. These Thompsons are mentioned in will info etc: Thomas Thompson, son of John Thompson. He died 1743. Robert Thompson, brother of Thomas Thomas Thompson described as being nephew of Robert Means in his will. There is will info for Robert Means, Augusta Co. VA. if anyone is interested in it. There is comment that Thomas and Janet were niece and nephew of Robert Means. Also in the same Journal, is the info from Chalkley's Chronicles of the Scot-Irish Settlement in Va. Vol 1 p 69 1755 Robert Mean's Will proved. admr. moved for by Thomas Thompson, his nephew and heir-at-law, and also by John McClung, who married Jannet, niece of the deceased given to Thomas. Vol 3 Pg 40 1754 Robert Mean's will To John McClung, money in hands of Edward Thomson and Thos. Thomson. There are reasons listed for why the writer [Evelyn Witeck] felt that John McClung's first wife was Janet Thompson. If anyone wants them, let me know. So, it is possible that some of the children credited as belonging to Rebecca Stuart, are not hers afterall. Quite a mystery. What does everyone think?
