    3. Hello Melinda, How are you? I wanted to get back to you right away before you left. I have written to John Hoff again to see if he could help with updating info or anything. He has given me some very good input and helped to clear the cobwebs, concerning Conrad and Mary. He is a very good researcher and more experienced than I am. I have lots of resources and consciously know about the primary and secondary sources [I think that is what they are called]. But sometimes I still don't think it through as a more experienced genealogist would. He explains that the most trustworthy source is the baptismal records, which verify the birth date of 1782 for Conrad Cart. He still says that his father is Adam Cart, and mother is Maria Catharina Schmidt. He fully explains how the information gets confused and says he would not give as much credance to the KVGS book, because the contributers may have easily been assuming things which were not necessarily true. I have written him for permission to forward his messages to the list, to help with clarifications. He also distrusts census information, as I do also. But he says that the information I found in the 1850 census where Conrad and Mary are much older, is the correct family. He says the ages may be a little off [he explains that], but the family structure is correct. As I understand it, He says that the Conrad Cart whose father is William and the mother a Heppenheimer, is another Conrad and not to be confused with Adam's son, Conrad Cart. I already determined yesterday to go by my original configuration of Conrad as Adam's son, and the birthline given in the KVGS, as well as your information and the information given by John Hoff 3rd. I will use the baptismal record as the true birth dates. I will wait and see if I can figure out how William Cart, father of the other Conrad fits into the relationship with Adam Cart as I believe the correct assumption at this point is that he is a separate individual. I can not explain why both Adam Carts are credited with marrying a Mary Vance/Wentz/Wantz, nor did John explain that. If and when I get permission from John, I will forward his message to the list in the hopes that he will help clear the cobwebs from my fellow Vance and Cart researchers. :-) Happy hunting.
