    1. [WVGREENB] Lineage of William McClung

    3. Would any one happen to have the lineage of William McClung (Grandfather Billie) first to Greenbrier Co. ? I'm particularly interested in his brothers and sisters, parents, grandparents. According to Clarence Legg's Book "They Hacked the Clearings", two of Grandfather Billie's sisters married brothers of Andrew Moore (b 1752). Legg states it was William and David, but does not give names or dates. I am looking for the parents of an Andrew Moore (abt 1820-1910) who married Margaret Hefner in Greenbrier Co. abt 1840. I thought there might be a connection through the McClungs as this Andrew Moore settled in Fayette Co. This Andrew had a brother Hamilton (Ham) Moore that lived around Lexington, VA. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Marilyn

Janett McClung, dau. of John McClung and Rebecca Stuart, married David Moore. Some notes on the same page: John McClung lived with Nancy after sale of farm: probably buried with husband, Capt. William Moore, was born at "Cannicello," Rockbridge Co., VA. He was the first merchant in Lexington, VA; where they died. Janett md. David Moore, brother of Capt. Wm. Moore and General Andrew Moore - who was the first United States Senator west of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The above taken from "The Greenbrier McClung Way" by Rheba Irrene McClung, Parkersburg, WV

If your William McClung was b. 1738, d. Jan 18, 1833, m. Abigail Dickson, d. 11-18-1820, aged 74 years, then he was the son of: John McClung, b. 1690+, Ireland, d. 1788, buried Rockbridge, VA, son of: John McClung, b. 1660+, Scotland Taken from "The Greenbrier Way" by Rheba Irrene McClung, Parkersburg, WV

    3. Marilyn, I have what is in the 1904 McClung Genealogy book. I'm happy to share. Judith McClung at http://members.cland.net/~jmcclung has updated a great deal of that information and has it nicely indexed so that you can still compare it to the unusual index that the original book used.
