I am still looking for my Long family, and recently was able to obtain some information, and I hope someone out there can help me, if only a little bit. My husbands grandfather was JOHN LETCHER LONG, born April 15, 1873 in Meadow Bluff. We were able to get some of his medical records, these show that his father was James Long and the mother of some of his children was: Malinda ADALINE Fisher. I found today that she was born in Patrick County, Virginia and lived in 1860 in Floyd County, Virginia with William and Elizabeth Fisher. This means these kids may have not had married parents. I was also finally able to get a copy of his death certificate and this shows his father was called Dock, now this could have been a nickname. Hopefully, someone can help.
