    1. [WVGREENB] Jacob and Elizabeth MAY
    2. Joseph J. Messersmith, Jr.
    3. On the 1870 census, Jacob and Elizabeth May, both about 70, were living in Monroe County. They were originally from Rockingham Co., VA. I have not been able to find them on the 1880 census. On the 1880 census, three of their adult children, Martha, Nancy, and Zachary Taylor May, all of who were born between 1843 and 1849, and who were still single were living together in Blue Sulphur, Greenbrier County. Based on this I am working on the assumption that Jacob and Elizabeth died between 1870 and 1880, most likely in Monroe or Greenbrier County. On the Monroe County GenWeb site I found the following MAY references in the Monroe Border/Watchman surname index. 17291 1877 Aug 03 3 5 May, Jacob 17292 1877 Jun 01 1 6 May, Sophie 17293 1877 Jul 27 1 4 May; Mr. I will appreciate a lookup from anyone who has access to these newspapers to see why these MAYs were mentioned in the papers. Also, any help I can get in checking the Monroe County deaths records for the period 1870 - 1880 to see if the deaths of either one or both of these people was reported will be appreciated. I am especially interested in learning the names of their parents if they were reported. Any other information that relates to this couple will also be appreciated. Also, any further information on Martha, Nancy and Zachary Taylor May will be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help. Jim Messersmith Rockville, VA
