Vivan; Instead of payment for taking care of the children I would think this was a payment for goods received from the guardian who probably sold them with the approval of the court. The funds would have been used to care for the kids. Also remember that "infant" refers to any child under 14 so they could have been paying for an apprenticeship of some sort as well. Perhaps everyone was suing each other because the goods, service or land wasn't as advertised or even delivered. Hope this helps a little. Heather McLeland-Wieser
