There is a new website that was just started for researchers of the Walker family. Memucan Walker 1764- 1836 has been tied through recent DNA testing to seven other branches of the family who share a common ancestor with the connection most likely in Virginia between the mid 1600s and the Revolutionary War, in which Memucan was a soldier at the age of 16. Memucan was born in Lunenburg Co. VA, lived in South Carolina and Maryland, then came to Greenbrier Co. (W)VA where he was one of the first schoolteachers. He married there for the second (or it may have been the third ?) time. With this marriage in 1808 to Rachel Lewis and with later marriages of his descendants, the Walker family is connected to a large number of early West Virginia pioneering families.
