I want to thank everyone for their interest in the new Pioneer Family History Preservation Society website. Everyone who has requested membership has been processed. We have about two hundred members and we are currently going through some lessons on the site on how to view and post photographs. I don't have the site statistics in front of me but off the top of my head I believe we have about a hundred photos posted (mostly Webster, Clay, and Nicholas county families), more than a dozen family trees, and I can't even begin to count the surnames that are represented. I believe that the site will grow rapidly as the members learn how to use the various features. At myfamily.com we have 205MB of storage space which is enough room for about 1000 photos (more space can be added as it's needed), we also have two members who have shown interest in combining their family sites with the Pioneer site, which should also add a lot of content from counties which are currently under represented. If you are already a member at the site I encourage you to help the site grow by inviting your family and friends to participate, as well as sharing your photos and research with the rest of the members (all content posted remains the property of the owner and can be removed at any time). This is your chance to preserve your family history online without having to learn website design and all those computer skills necessary to set-up a site. If you aren't a member at the site and are interested in a fully interactive site that allows you to easily connect with other researchers, post your family tree, share photos, research tips, old letters etc. just send an email containing your first and last name to Willisdeal@myfamily.com The site is free and open to everyone with a genealogical or historical interest in Central WV and the origins of families who settled there. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
