My apologies for a couple of errors in my previous email announcing the new pioneer website. First, the site is free and open to everyone, just send an email to willisdeal@myfamily.com requesting a username and password. Second, the name of the site is Pioneer Family History Preservation Society, without the West Virginia in front of the name. The main focus of the site is West Virginia, primarily the central counties. But our pioneer ancestors migrated from many different counties of WV, and earlier VA, Ken, NC, and other areas, so we don't limit our discussions and research to just one area. We also have a very broad definition of 'pioneer', and welcome the participation of any families who have ever lived in the central WV region. We expect this site to be a great resource for historians and family researchers. This site differs from genweb and other county sites (most of which are excellent sites by themselves) in that the members interact with each other. Each member is able to post photographs, gedcoms, old letters, marriage licenses, census extracts, and just about anything you can think of. This eliminates the need to filter your material through a webmaster, who may or may not have time to post your content. Members also have the ability to add comments to any content that is posted, so if a photo of an unidentified person is posted other members can add names or biographical data. This system greatly increases the chances of making connections with other researchers. A similar site dedicated exclusively to Webster co has lead to many connections for the members that they missed through the typical mailing lists and county sites. In fact, at the Webster co site many people have seen for the first time photos of their great-grandparents, and others in their family. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
