Co. in 1839, son of James Philander and Sarah (Bransford) Patteson, of Buckingham Co., VA. She was born in Cumberland Co., VA. In that area the original name is spelled Patteson, without an R. Ruth Dozer, daughter of David and Frances Dozer, was born in 1842 in Fayette Co. No other info. except this from 1850 census. John B. lived in the Kessler Cross Roads area, and was kin to the Pattesons who lived in the home now the Patteson Museum at Carnifax Ferry. A brother of James Philander Patteson was Henry Christian Patteson who lived in Appomattox Co., VA. It is believed that their parents were James and Sarah Patteson of Buckingham Co., but it was one of the 'burned counties' so proof is not available. I f anyone has any information concerning John B.
