Linda, I just got back from Charleston. They have a Culture Center - Archives and History Library located at 1900 Kanawha Blvd E. , Charleston WV 25305 right next to the capitol. (from interstate 64/77 its exit 99 State Capitol/Greenbrier St). Everyone was extremly nice and there was alot of information for all the counties. So much so that instead of going to the county seats I went there for 3 days. The number is 304 558-0230 ext 168 and there web site is www.wvculture.org/history. I haven't tried the site since I've been home. Hours 9am to 8 pm Mon-Thur, 9am to 6pm Fri-Sat, closed Sun. Metered parking. If you are into quilts - there is a display of some of the prettist ones I've ever seen. There is a wonderful museum downstairs, too. Happy digging!
