Hello again! The William HENSON that I am wanting a lookup for, probably didn't die until abt. mid 1840s. Sorry for the mistake! Thanks again, Gina in TN :o)
Hello all, I am looking for someone who might be able to do a lookup for a Will for me. I am looking for William HENSON, Sr. who died sometime around 1824 in Greenbrier, County, (W)VA. He was married to a Civilla or Civilly TUCKWILLER or TUCKWYLLER. If there is anyone out there who can do this lookup for me, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, Gina in TN :o)
Searching for Reunion info on the Greenbrier Co., WV descendants of "Phillip Hinkle Family Reunion". I understand the reunion is held in June at Droop Mt, WV. Any info is appreciated. Butch Willard
I am also researching the Jones Family. Maybe you can assist. My Great-great-grandfather was James Arthur "Dick" Jones born 1848 & died 1941 married 1872 to Susan Catherine McMillion (1855-1927). I was told that his parents were Wylie Jones & Mary ?. Also I am looking for the parents of my great-grandmother LaDona W. Jones, I was told that her parents names were Floyd and Missouri(Missoura)Hellems. Ladona was from Nicholas I think. Thanks in advance. Joanne L. Does anyone know where I might obtain a copy of the Greenbrier Co., WV Family Heritage 1997 book? I am looking for any information related to the Robert E. & Virginia Simpson Mann family. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or info. Betty Simpson Bsimp19525@aol.com
Does anyone out there know how I can find copies of the following books: 200 Years of Good Hope by James W. Banks and History of the Union Presbyterian Church by S.R. Houston ?? I sure appreciate your help - Thanks!! Tracy
They have a book on this church on ebay, although there are many more items from Lewisburg on ebay and you should search all of it, they are not my items, I just hate to see collectors get our rare genealogy information and hoard it. This is the url to the book, or you can go to search and find other items as well. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1721491446 Hope that helps someone find their family, Jamie
According to the book I emailed you about earlier, the Ingles/Draper massacre was Sunday, July 8, 1755. the Shawnees came to the Drapers Meadows Settlement and killed Colonel James Patton, Mrs. George Draper, Casper Barrier, and a child of John Draper. Mrs John Draper, Henry Lenard, and Mrs. William Ingles were taken prisoner. Mrs. John Draper and James Cull were wounded. Mrs John Draper was away from the house during the attack and grabbed her infant and ran, and was shot in the elbow and her arm broken. She was caught and the infant "brained" on the corner of a log house. After gathering prisoners, guns, and household goods, they burned the homes. they next stopped at the home of Mr. Philip Barger described as a "white haired old man". They cut his head off and took it to the house of his friend, Philip Lybrook, and left it, telling the wife she would find an acquaintance in the bag. In 1774 the family of John Lybrook, son of Phillip, were attacked and five children killed. The author states Mrs. Ingalls delighted in telling of her adventures and a lot of family members had recorded the events she told and collectively had the same dates, etc. In the past couple of days on the Augusta Co., VA mail list there was a question that evolved from why an Augusta Militia was formed to dates for theEngles/Draper massacres...I started looking at my various books to see if I could answer the question...but others beat me to the answer...but I found something that sorta made me pause in my tracks.. "Trans Allegheny Pioneers" by John P. Hale, published 1886, Chapter 36. The purpose of this chapter was to make a chronological record of important events along the western border of Virginia. He stated that a lot of what he wrote came from those who had experienced it, or had heard a parent or grandparent relate the event. The following is two paragraphs before he beganthe chronological events...which begin in 1654 and end in 1886. QUOTED from book: Their {the pioneers} goings and comings and their doings were not guided by fixed rules nor programmes, nor cramped and fettered by cold records. They had a contempt for calendars and a negligent disregard of dates. Facts they remembered, and could relate with minutest detail; but they neither knew nor cared whether the events related occurred five, or ten, or twenty years earlier or later; all that they knew or cared to remember was, that they occurred, "in an early day" - in the dim, indefinite and distance-enchanted past. THEN he wrote the following: "To get early historical dates with accuracy is no easy task, as those who have tried it know." Now this poor gentleman was having problems in 1886 getting reliable data....and it is 116 years later and look at us.....who says history doesn't repeat itself???? LOL Peace, Vivian

According to Kanawha County, VA/WV marriage records, dated 15 March 1861, Abner Cantrell married Amanda E. Pritt. The marriage record lists Abner as the s/o Christopher & Betsey Cantrell from Greenbrier County, VA/WV. Also from Kanawha County marriage records there comes evidence of Albert Cantrell marrying Rachel Pendell on 6 November 1864. I have been told that this Alfred Cantrell is also the s/o of Christopher Cantrell, who was born 16 May 1778. Abner may have also had a sibling named William. Does anyone have a listing for the children of Christopher & Betsey Cantrell? Thank you in advance for any information. I look forward to reading you E-mails. Sincerely, Mike Peters npeters102@aol.com

Still looking for information about Memucan Walker who married Rachel Lewis, daughter of Hezekiah Lewis, in 1808 in Greenbrier Co. Where did they live? Where and when did he teach school? Did he bring any children from an earlier marriage in MD when he came to Greenbrier Co? Memucan Walker was born in Lunenburg Co. Va, lived in SC and MD. He was a Rev. War Vet. I have his pension application. DNA testing shows several pre-Rev. War branches of the family. Any information appreciated. Linda
