    3. Does anyone know who Sarah Livesay connects to? Parents etc.? The Greenbrier Co. WVA Family Heritage 1997, lists Sarah as being married to Thomas Caraway, Jr. in 1819. He married Grissilla Handley after Sarah's death. There are several Grissilla Handley's. This grozilla/Grissilla/Grisel Handly was b. 1785 d. 1842. William Caraway, Sr. b. 1775, m. 1821, d. 1859. Parents were: Thomas Caraway and Elizabeth Caraway. Some of this information comes from a report given to me from Carol Berry about her lineage. I notice the discrepancy in the information. The book says that was William Caraway, Jr. Carol's info says he was William Caraway, Sr. Anyone have the straight information? I have found several places in the book, where the information is questionable. Happy hunting. 2. All the info I have on the Thomas family was given to me my husbands grandmother who had it written in a bible. She is 90 and has an excellent memory too. I have done no formal research on this line but I thought I would jump in and give what I have. I have a very large picture of Mary Collison and under some matting on the back there were things written and I need to get it down and read it. I am driving through Lewisburg on my trip home during spring break. I am going to stop at the old stone church and find them. My problem with stopping and actually doing much research is that I travel with 2 toddlers! Melinda In a message dated 3/31/99 1:37:34 AM Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes: << This David Anderson would have been about the right age to have married in the era of 1840. I do notice that this David had a son named David Richard Thomas [1845]. No wife is given in the Greenbrier book. It is possible that this David Richard Thomas who is mentioned as marrying Mary Ellen Collison/Callison was the same one that is being discussed in the Greenbrier book. Where was the information found, Melinda that you have about Mary Ellen and David Richard Thomas? If the Greenbrier book is accurate about the date of death of Amanda Dyches as being 1884, I doubt very much if David A. Thomas would have married someone else in the 1840's. Which brings us full circle to the possibility that Taylor was a maiden name and Dyches was a previously married name or something. That is all assuming that we are talking about the same David Anderson. It was Melinda who offered the information about the David Anderson who married a Sally Taylor. I would be interested in finding out who the SIBLINGS were for the David R. Thomas who married Mary Ellen Callison/Collison. That should give us an idea of whether the two David R. Thomas's and David Anderson Thomases might be the same. The coincidence of having the same children in David Anderson Thomas, and Amanda's families compared to your records for your David A. Thomas, seems too much to take lightly, I think. But I will keep an open mind. >>

    2. jarmscoop
    3. Hello Karen, I see another message from you, which came in tonight. Will try to answer this one quickly. Sorry to confuse you. You are the one who gave me the information about a David Thomas who married Amanda Taylor/Tailer. I have not discovered anything like that information. I have been reporting David Thomas related information as I find it. It will be up to you to sift it and figure out if any of it refers to your Thomas family. What was interesting to me, was that David Anderson Thomas's family included an Amanda and also the same names of the children, who you list as belonging to this mysterious Amanda [Tailer?] The Greenbrier Book [Heritage 97] lists David Anderson Thomas as marrying Amanda Melvinia Dyches. Their children are the same names and a couple extra, that you list for the Amanda that you are talking about. Is it possible that the Amanda who married David A. Thomas, was a Taylor/Tailer by birth or prior marriage? You mention a marriage record. If Amanda Dyches was her prior married name, she could have been a Tailer/Taylor by birth. I don't know, I am just trying to psyche out the information and make it fit your criteria. :-) The 1850 census also lists an Anderson Thomas, with a wife Amanda and the same children's names. I think that these families stand a good chance of being the same family that you are looking for. At least they stand a chance of belonging to the same family as the one they are discussing in the Greenbrier Heritage 1997 book. :-) Let's see if we can narrow the Thomas family down by date. Then compare it to the date of David A. Thomas that you know about. Do you have other information about him or this Taylor? Do you have parents of either or anything? You mention a marriage information. Do you have marriage info with a date of marriage for them? Only you know if these Thomas people might be the ones you are looking for. I can only report what I find about people with the same name and locations etc. David Thomas was the father. He was b. before 1800. Greenbrier book says he married an Elizabeth possibly. His son was David Anderson Thomas [1817-1904]. Greenbrier Book says he married Amanda Dyches. [1818-1884] This David Anderson would have been about the right age to have married in the era of 1840. As for Solomon....I think I typed too fast again, if I said he was the son of David Anderson Thomas. Solomon was the brother of David Anderson Thomas . No date is given for his birth, or spouse. But his siblings were b. around 1818-1828 or there abouts. [According to the Greenbrier Heritage Book] We also have a marriage CD. Will make a report of Thomas marriages and send it to the list, in case it might help anyone in sorting this out. 3. Hello Lists, I noticed that in a message that I wrote about the relatives of Katy John McClung, I made a remark, which has certainly got me tearing through the books, trying to figure out what I was thinking. :-) I said " William's brother was Alexander McClung and Rebecca Cavendish." The information I gave about Alexander and his WIFE Rebecca Cavendish was accurate and from the text. :-) However, I have no idea at this moment, why I would make a statement that Katy John's father, William was a brother of Alexander. Unless I am awful confused [possible], that is not the case. I think that I saw in the McClung book, that both were of the fourth generation, but did not realize that just because they were both fourth generation, they are not brothers. :-) I know better, but guess I got a little rummy. I am typing fast as I can, these days, while I have time to do it, before the next crises hits, or it becomes time to do the newsletter etc. Anyway, I do know that Alexander, husband of Rebecca Cavendish was the son of William McCLung b. 1736, who was known as Grandfather Billie. Someone was nice enough to send me an outline of Grandfather Billie and fill in, in easier form how Alexander relates to this William.[Not Katy John's Father] The McClung book states that Grandfather Billie [William McClung's] wife was Abigail Dickson, However; I also learned that her name was most likely Abigail Carpenter Dickson/Dickinson. Does anyone have an update on that name? Someone said that Carpenter or Dickson/Dickinson could have been a previously married name. 3. Here are some notes for Adam Cart, father of Conrad Cart. Hope it is interesting to you. John Hoff III also says that there was a Carrie Carte who he thought was now dead. She lived in Charleston, SC. She was descended from Washington Taylor Carte and Sarah Francis Jarrett. He had her paper showing the Cart descendency; but not the Jarrett. She has more info on the Jones lines; however. Assuming he is still around, we could probably get ahold of that information, if we need it. She evidently has Adam's father as Johann Lenhard Karg. She has him b. in 1720 in Mannheim, Germany. He is not sure where she got this information and seems to distrust it. She has Johann Lenhard Karg's father as Leonhardt Karg, who married in 1715 in Albisheim in the Rhineland-Pfaltz to Magdalena Meyer. John says this record appears in the German IGI; but doesn't know what proof there is that Leonhardt Karg is the father of Johann Lenhard Karg. He seems to think she may have simply put the information together, without proof. He says he thinks there is still no proof that the family comes from the Mannheim area. [That was in 1997. He might have an update by now. The information he has sent is from the LDS Ancestral File. Name variations: Karg, Kart, Karrigh, Karch, Cart, Carte 1779 Living in Douglas Twp., Phila. Co. 3. Ok, Melinda, I think I have settled some of the confusions. I have rechecked the information you sent today, against some you sent me, in Oct. 98. This should be some proof that I eventually get back to some of the names which I do not finish researching. :-) I have also used some information from John D. Hoff III sent to me, in Nov. 97, and also the Ancestry vol 5 of KVGS, plus some other info that I have gotten from various places. I will agree with the birth date of 1782, based upon Baptism records for the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Pottstown, though I found a date of 1784 in the KVGS book. I notice that in your information you indicate that Mary Vance married [1] Conrad Cart. Do you know who else she married, if she married more than once? I rechecked my program and discovered that I had listed Richard David Carte with the wrong parents. So, I was able to do the tricks and get it in the right place and merged as child of Conrad and Mary Cart. Apparently he married both Mahala Osborne and also Sybil Scott, based upon the information that I have now. Can you help me out with the marriage of Mary E. Cart and Robert Vance? How does he relate to Mary Vance who married Conrad Cart? I see all sorts of documentation that Catherine Heppenheimer was a sponser for some of the Cart baptisms. Now, how does Willhelm Cart, her father relate to Conrad Cart/ or Johann Cart? I can not seem to place either Mary Cart or Willhelm Cart with all the many Carts in my program....parents please or dates? John Huff is in the line of Conrad's dau. Catharina Cart.
