Hi Valerie, I am finally getting to study this information. It was very good information for me. Thanks. One question comes to mind, which perhaps some of the Jarrett researchers can answer. I have a James Henry Jarrett as James Henry III. Can we verify that James I and James II Jarrett were also James Henry Jarrett, or is that incorrect information? Hello Betty, Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I appreciate the information about the children of Joshua. I am assuming he was b. in VA? Would you know that for sure? I list a b. date for Rebecca Caraway, who m. Vincent Jarrett as 1816. I located Rebecca and Vincent Jarrett in the 1850 Greenbrier Co. Census, on the Census CD. She was listed as 34 years old, which would put her BD as 1816. Course we all know how accurate things like the census are....they are just for using as clues for the real information, I think. Do you have a source for the date of 1824? No, I have not seen the Jamison's booklet. Would enjoy any info that you can find from it. The Jarretts directly relate to my husband's line of Vincent. I do not have a copy of the letter Charles Caraway wrote to his brother Thomas. Would enjoy that info, if you would like to send it. Are you connected/related to these Caraway lines? Am sending this to the Greenbrier Co. list, in case anyone else is interested in this information. Did someone say that Chalkley's was completed and online? I checked the rootsweb site for that, but it is not complete, and the web site has not been updated for a very long time. If there is a new URL, I sure would like it!!!! I am sorry I deleted the email before I realized this... Lori
HELP!! Someone sent me a query on one of the above surnames last week and it was accidently deleted from my inbox. If you sent this query, I believe the given names were David and Joshua, please send it again. Thanks, Cara [email protected]
I don't know if all of you, have checked this site. It belongs to a John Quigley, whose wife Yvonne is a Vincent. They are another branch of the Vincents that I connect to. They connect directly to Nancy Renick and John Frazier Vincent. There may be other familiar names in their gedcom. If you haven't already, I would check it out. He still lists Rosanna Frazier as being the mother of John Frazier Vincent, and Joseph Vincent Jr. etc., but we have discussed that, and we have documentation that her name was Rosanna Poole. We do not know whether she was married to a Frazier or something. There are surely mysteries connected with this family. We know that there were Frazier family in the Greenbrier/Kanawha/Monroe/etc. county areas. Wonder if anyone has any info about a connection between them and the Vincents/Pooles. Hi Folks, I have been working with the Greenbrier County biographies in the Archives and have made some changes to the files and Table of Contents. I have broken down each alphabetical file into individual biographies.....those that have visited before know that all of the "A" bios were in one file, etc., forcing the researcher to print *all* biographies in order to have the one for their ancestor. I have broken these files down by individuals, making it much easier to print the bios and file them in your notebooks. Please stop by the Greenbrier County WVGenWeb Archives at <http://www.rootsweb.com/usgenweb/wv/greenbri.htm> and click the link to "Biographies". Have a great week! Valerie

Hello Zickafoose researchers, I received the following note, from Dick Zickafoose, who requested that I forward this query to the List that I know has Zickafoose researchers. I believe he is getting ready to have a Zickafoose website. Will keep you posted when I get more information. Here is his Query. You may write directly to him, if you have his e-mail address, but please cc me as well, because I have a couple others interested in Zickafoose who aren't on the list. I am also keeping the information, for later use. My lines do connect with the Zickafoose/Metzkers, but have not had time to update my program with it yet, so I do not consider myself knowlegable, though I do have some research material on the name Zickafoose. Dick's Query: In the process of reviewing the George Zickafoose (Elizabeth's dad) family, I came across two children, probably daughters, who were listed in the census of 1820 and 1830. Given their age ranges and the known birth dates of other children, I have listed them as born ca. 1814 and ca. 1825. The two census (es?) are the only record I have found. There is a record of a Mary C. Zickafoose having married George W. Dunbar, 7/2/1845, but no notation of their ages or parents. Lacking any other possibilities, I am tempted to conclude that Mary C. is the one born ca. 1825. Joyce: Would you mind putting this out on your network to see if anyone has information concerning either of these two daughters? Cuzin Dick Thanks for any help. Hi Jo Ann, How are you? Well I will see if this gets to you. I have Taylors on both my husband's side and my side. I have a long string of them in my FTM file. If you would like a report on all of them, can sure do that. They are from KY, VA, MO etc. I do not remember any from AL or SC. Many of the Taylors are not connected to each other as yet. I belonged to the Taylor List, for a long time, and never did get much except for a connection to a Taylor [Susan] who married a McClung. I have quite a nice bunch of info on that line. I do have some documented info on the other Taylors as well. I believe that my own connection to the Taylors of KY and VA is pretty fully written up on my FTM site, which can be accessed through the Geocities site, which is listed below. Well, take care. Hello everyone, I am slowly getting back to research after a crash and the newsletter for the Roseville Genealogy Society. I had an inquiry about Rosanna Vincent, who married both James Jarrett, and a Michael Duffy. I also heard from the person who wrote the inquiry that he thought this second husband's name was Duffa. I do not have anything on him for vitals. Does anyone have vitals on him, or verification that he is Duffy, instead of Duffa. Marriage records on the 229 Broderbund Marriage cd, indicate he was Michael Duffy and they were m. in 1823, Greenbrier Co. I understood from previous info that Rosanna is buried under the name of Rosanna Duffy. In the 1850 Census Cd, I find her with her son Vincent Jarrett and his wife Rebecca [Caraway] Jarrett. She was 72 years old. My contact, Jarrett Wood indicates that he visited the cemetery of Muddy Creek, in Greenbrier Co. WVA recently and saw her grave. The grave of James Jarrett, was in poor shape and the stone was missing. Hope this is interesting. He is looking for information about the ancestors of James Jarrett, who apparently were from PA. If you can help, please let me know and I will connect him with you. I had West Virginia Daily News to locate the obituary in 1969 newspaper and they informed me there were none. He was killed in a one car accident in Lewisburg vicinity. He passed away from May to July of 1969 or 1970. Maybe you can tell me how to locate his burial site so I can stop by and pay respect. ***************** >> Lewisburg District, Greenbrier Memorial Gardens - Claude W Dalton 1949-1970 Directions: Follow US Route 60 east from Lewisburg, WV. Turn right onto Old US Route 60 just past Lewisburg's city limits. Cemetery is a short distance and well marked. This info came from the Lewisburg District Cemetery book put out by the Historical society. Mary Williams
