    3. Hello Mary Lou, I do not show Richard or Ann Patton Thomas in my files. However, there are quite a few Thomas people marrying into my families, that I do research. Here is an example. I have several more if you are interested. Wonder if you or anyone has the parents of this Thomas.... Descendants of Alice Minerva Thomas 1 Alice Minerva Thomas b: December 6, 1880 in Tuppers Creek, Kanawha County, West Virginia d: December 5, 1960 .. +James Henry Legg b: November 4, 1879 in Kanawha County, West Virginia As a matter of fact, this James Legg is the son of William H. Legg and Margaret Harper, who I will be reporting on later. I have written reports on Thomas family from the Greenbrier Family Heritage 1997 book, but did not check them against my files.... 1. [WVGREENB-L] Maiden names #6
    2. Holly Wanless Cochran
    3. Dear listers, I am *still* annotating the 1860 Bath census with maiden names, and I can't find these women! Does anybody know the maiden names (with a source, please) of the following women found in the 1860 Bath county census? I have checked Bath/Highland birth/death records and Bath, Pocahontas, Highland, Augusta, Rockbridge, Rockingham, & Alleghany county marriage records. I've also checked Morton's History of Highland co (online), CD 229 (VA marriage index), & the LDS site online. I'm hoping that one of you will have these people in your files or other books. These are all names I have *not* sent to these lists before this. The single dates mean "married in or before this year", based on the age of their eldest child in the census. LYLE/LILE, John & Sarah/Sally -1848 (can't find this couple in the 1850 VA census either, so I suspect one or both first names to be wrong; children are Martha, Esteline, Thomas) MASTERS, Frederick & Patsy/Martha 1850-1851 MERRITT, John & Elizabeth -1834 MORRIS/MORRISON, Josiah & Jane -1841 or 1850-1860 O'KANE/O'CANE, Thomas & Anne -1832 PERKINS/PURKINS, Stephen & Mary, 1820-1850 ROBERTS, Daniel & Mary -1845 RODGERS/ROGERS, Goodman/Reuben & Harriet -1849 or -1832 RUSH, Henry E. & Mary J., -1831 SEYBERT, A.F. & Mary J. -1860 SIMPSON/SAMPSON, Rezin & Mary J. 3. Joyce Cooper <[email protected]> Wow! You have 5 different guys with the name Thomas George. Your information should be very helpful to George investigators. Thanks for sharing it. Most of it is a generation or two later than the dates I am searcing for, but with the similarity of names, it would seem that they ought to be "family" in some way. [Now I have even more puzzles to fill in. (Grin)] You mentioned sources of information. Karen Kessler Cottrill has been very helpful, most of my information on William Carroll and Jane George comes from her and Cheryl McGraw. Yes, I did make a typo. Cheryl McGraw has proposed that Jane's father's name is Thomas George. I got so busy typing "thomas" that I accidently switched first names when I should have written William Carroll. The question I would like to re-phrase is, "Do we think William Carroll married twice and that one of his wives was Jane George?" W.L. Barker has pointed out a Jane George, the daughter of Richard George [1709-1773] and Elizabeth Ann Mayo [1716-1774] who were wed in 1734 in Middlesex Co, VA. With a little "push", we might estimate her dates to "fit." Juhling McClung

    3. Hi, I am looking for a William Henry Hantzmon whose son Henry Milliard Hantzmon was born I believe in Greenbriar County in 1858. I would like to check the censuses for 1860, 70 & 80. Can anyone tell me if they are online anywhere? I have found some censuses for Russell County online. Also, was Greenbriar a part of Virginia at that time? Or West Virginia? Thanks, Mary Lou
