According to sketchy family records, sisters Kathryn Sullivan and Johana Sullivan married Twohig/Toohig brothers some time between 1860 and 1890. I don't know the birthdates of these sisters. Their brother Eugene was my great grandfather and he was born in 1854. Their father Michael Sullivan and mother Mary Jane Sullivan may have operated a rooming house or hotel for railroad workers in White Sulphur Springs. So far I have hit a block wall with this branch of the family. Would appreciate any suggestions. Beverlee Stuart-Borok

Re: [WVGREENB-L] Re: Memucan Walker Date: Fri, 25 Jun 1999 11:44:39 -0300 From: [email protected] To: Dennis Brubaker <[email protected]> References: 1 , 2 Hello Cathy Thanks for replying. We may all be passing around the same information that I understand is not verified. But it is probably correct, at least mostly. I don't have all on FTM yet I'll send what I have on the computer. I want to add what you had that was different. It would be nice to have more from the Greenbrier years and verify Memucan's earlier years and parentage. Will you please send me the address on that Web Site? I went to the Walker reunion last year. I think it is the second Sunday in August. Let me know if that is not right. It was at Summersville Lake, a good place. Lots of information there but had to work to get it. I took some sheets that people seemed glad to get. But I feel there are others with better than I have. I'm going to try to go this year and go better prepared. Can you go? Where are you? Wonder if we could get a list from the Walker Reunion President and do some "prospecting" as we call it in my business, prior to the reunion. Do you think it would work? We could sent out to those interested what we have and ask them to contribute. Then share with all. Would your g grandfather, Lewis, have lived on a farm in the Copen area of Braxton in the early 1930s? My parents had lived there when the depression hit and Dad had to shut down his business and took a job with a company somewhere else for a few years until he could back into business for himself. Someone in the family lived there after them. My mother said someone had a small tintype of William Washington Walker and Ruhama Jane Mollohan taken on their wedding day. She has said she would like to see it..It may already be too late. Her sight is getting bad. She was 90 in May. Look forward to hearing from you. Dear Joyce, No, I didn't see what was written by Cathy. Can you sent it or tell me where I can find it? Memucan is mentioned in one of the Greenbrier histories as being the first school teacher in a certain area. Thanks. To Linda, Cathy and anyone else researching this person, I have noticed messages recently requesting info on this Walker. Just wanted to respond at this point, to say that I have been keeping any eye out for him in the Greenbrier Co. WV, Family Heritage copies that I have, and so far have not discovered him or the other Walkers that are mentioned in this message. I also do not see any connection between these Walkers and the Walkers which mostly connect to Elverton P. Walker, or John Walker who married Jane McKnight. Does anyone else see a connection between the Memucan Walker line, and the Walkers that I am researching? Linda did you see the information that Cathy put on the list about the Memucan line? I have saved the info with my Walker stuff, incase it starts to connect. Hi Bette, Thanks so much for the information. I am going to file it with my Renick stuff so if someone wants it again, I will have it. Hesseltine's bio of Draper and now finally this Guide is available. It is all owned by the Wisconsin State Historical Society because Draper was the corresponding secretary of the society (in 1854). In 1857 he again had time to do personal research in addition to collect more material. He worked on it until he died in Madison, WI 26 Aug 1891. He was most interested in the History of the trans-Allegheny West - ie - western area of Carolinas & VA, protions of GA and AL, entire OH River valley and part of the upper MS valley from frontier conflicts in 1740's and 1750's to the American Rev and the War of 1812. Hello. I do not have those Walkers, but my 3rd great grandfather, Memucan Walker, was in Greenbrier from 1700s and, as far as I know, until his death in about 1830s. Can any one give me any information? His son Joel was in Greenbrier and in one of the bordering counties until he moved to Braxton Co. in about 1872 with his family that included William Washington Walker, Joel MacPherson Walker, and Benjiman Walker. Thanks, Linda [email protected] wrote: > Hello Walker researchers, > I have a mysterious ftw here, which has been in my files for awhile. Do not > know who sent it. Because I have the Guide to the Draper Papers - I will give you all the info - Lyman Draper gathered all the resources he could find in historical and biographical research prior to 1830. In 1980 the papers were microfilms AGAIN (1949) and in 1981 a microfiche edition of the related calendars, documentary selectios and Wm. Draper willed his personal collection of mms to the society and it was 150 bound vols. and many bundles of loose sheets. I am researching the line of William Davis, born in the 1780's and one of his sons is John Renicks Davis b.1809, another is George Washington Davis b. 1813. This William Davis & family was in Eden Twp., Licking County, Ohio by 1830. There seems to be a strong Claypool association also, with a lot of Claypool-Davis marriages. This association is with Aaron Claypoole's family. Aaron was b. 1780's, wife #2 and mother of his children was Elizabeth Shireman/Sherman. I want to know if any Renicks researchers are aware of this line, thinking that perhaps William's wife was a Renick(s) and John may have even been named after his maternal grandfather. This has been a brick wall for a long time so I'm going for the long shots now. Any help or clues greatly appreciated. Carolyn (Anderson) Clark in central Ohio Proud member of Rootsweb! Join Now! Hello Walker researchers, I have a mysterious ftw here, which has been in my files for awhile. Do not know who sent it. Finally got to looking at it, to see where it fits in and discovered a discrepancy or difference in the information, between what I have elsewhere. Hope you can help me. I have information that the parents of William L. Walker who married Rebecca J. Backhouse, are Milton Walker and Martha J. Moore. Of course Milton is the son of Nancy Legg and James A. Walker, by my records. This rgbackus.ftw says that William's parents are Jackson Walker and Charlotte Nicholls. Can anyone clear the cobwebs out of my head on this one? Thanks for the help. I would also like to be able to credit the info from this ftw, if anyone recognises the name of this. :-) Joyce in Ca. Our Extended Family

Hello everyone, Here is a good one for you. I have recently been researching Walkers as most of you know. :-) The parents of Legon and Elizabeth K. Hughart are Joseph Hughart and Mary Dozier. Ellen in Oregon has come up with a Gregory Deckard Zickafoose who married Virginia Dozier. This would be an interesting connection to make, especially for Ellen and other Zickafoose researchers, I believe. I am interested in knowing if anyone can trace Mary Dozier's line to include the connection of Gregory Zickafoose and Virginia Dozier. Perhaps Harvey researchers would have something on this. Joyce in Ca. Our Extended Family Ellen's query: OK, Gregory Deckard Zickafoose DOB: 20 November 1917 sorry....no location and no dates or locations for Virginia Dozier, either. Gregory's dad was Jesse Zickafoose DOB 1888 married Blanch Harvey DOB 1884, sorry, no locations. HOWEVER.... Jesse's dad was Caleb Dwyer Zickafoose DOB 1843 married Sara Hess DOB 1842 and they were married 13 Nov. 1861 in VIRGINIA..... Hummmmm, ring any bells????

Karen, Thanks so much for the information about John Bollar McClung. Jimmie Barnes also provided some info, but would rather have more than not enough. :-) Appreciate your efforts. One question that I have about your info is that the Greenbrier Co. WVA, Family Heritage 1997, says that Nancy Burr was b. in 1809. Course to be exact it says "circa 1809-1854". That is still close enough to the date that you have so that I am not real worried about that. Just thought you would like to know about that slight discrepancy in information. I always say that our info is as good as the information we are using as a resource. :-) Here is one strange thing. Both you and Jimmie gave me info about John Bollar McClung, which agreed with the information found in the Greenbrier Co. WVA Family Heritage 1997 book. I looked up John Bollar McClung in the 1904 McClung book by William McClung. It lists John Bollar's parents as you both did, [Black John McClung and Jane Bollar]. This McClung book says that John Bollar McClung b. 1803 married Mary Sims in 1857...They had one child, Angeline McClung, who married General Davis McClung, son of James McClung. Would this be a third wife for John Bollar McClung, or am I very confused? Thanks for the help. Joyce in Ca. Our Extended Family
I am searching for the parents and siblings of Eli Clark b. in Va. in the summer of 1814. I expect that if I ever find him, it will be as a deadend branch of some Clark cousin's tree. He was in Coshocton Co., in central Ohio by 1835 when he married at age 21. He died in Licking County, Ohio, but the death record does not show who his parents were or where or when he was born.
