    1. [WVGREENB-L] The KEYSER Search List
    2. Vincent Edward Summers
    3. Hi! A new, active KEYSER emaillist was started about one week ago. It includes variants of the names, such as, Keiser, Kiser, Kizer, Kyser, etc. We have an archive, and research Keysers from such diverse areas as New York, Canada, Virginia, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, District of Columbia &etc. We are serious about finding our own data, joining clusters of Keysers together, and tracing migratory patterns. We are also interested in tracking them to the "big water," and eventually, beyond. If you have the KEYSER surname in your family tree, won't you consider joining us? And if you cannot do that, and you have some KEYSER data, would you kindly pass a copy of that on to me for forwarding to the group so that some of them could benefit? To join, simply send a blank email with the word subscribe in the subject and body fields, to: [email protected] Please note that that is not rootsweb.com, but listbot.com Then you will receive an email with a password, so that you can visit our archives. It is located at http://www.listbot.com/ Finally, you can post to: [email protected] Unsubscribing is simple, with instructions at the bottom of each post. I hope to have you join us! Please feel free to include any short introduction you care to send, and as little or as much KEYSER data as you care to send, up to at least 20 kB in size (the limit may be 25, but I am not sure). Thanks so much, and if I have already invited you, I wish to apologize. I am trying hard to make this group a success, and I may accidentally invite the same person twice. Lastly, if you know of any other KEYSER researchers who might be interested, please forward this invitation to them so they, too, can have a chance to benefit, and assit us, or, again, at least send their data... Vince

    1. [WVGREENB] My Family
    2. morely
    3. I am joining this group in hopes to find any information on my ancestors, mainly Leonard Simmons b. 1806 in Pendleton County. Leonard married Mary Elizabeth Vandale, who was born in Greenbrier County. They were married at Lick Creek in Greenbrier in 1829. He can be found in the 1830 Census in Greenbriar, but no information on his. My family bible says that Leonard and Mary and their sons left Greenbrier and wen to what is now Roane Co., then to Wood Co., in 1832. "He bacame a large landowner and cleared a farm far surpassing all others of the time in the Spencer District." Leonard is also listed in the 1850 Census of Wirt Co. My family bible also has these surnames listed with information on each that I would be glad to share with anyone. The surnames are: BARLETT, BEE, BOGGS, CAIN, CAMP, DANIELL, DRENNEN, FERRELL, GOFF, VANDALE, & WISEMAN. The Vandales moved to Greenbier Co., in about 1818, later to Fayette County. I have quite a bit of information on the Vandales, Boggs, and Drennen. Leslie Ray

    2. The "first ever" reunion of the Greenbrier and Lewis County branches of the descendants of JARED MORGAN and HARRIET M. FOX of Highland County, VA will gather at 11:00am on Saturday, AUGUST 14, 1999 in the Mountain State Building at Jackson's Mill, Jane Lew, WV. Lunch will be served in the Dining Hall, family style at 12:15pm. The children of Jared and Harriet Fox were Jasper Littleton Fox, Zulina (Lina) Fox Burns, Ruhama Fox Townsend Wanless, Mary Eva Fox Watson and Jared "Woody" Fox. Ruhama and "Woody" settled in Highland County, but Jasper, Lina and Eva moved west to Greenbrier and Lewis Counties. It is believed that Jared Morgan Fox was the son of Isaac Fox of Bath County, VA. Fox Carter, Delila Ann Fox Cooper, and Lucinda Fox Pullins. IF one of these names is in your family history, come by and get acquainted with Jared's descendants. No need to worry about a covered dish or picnic bring your camera and plan to have a fun day. Find out who has the Fox ears and other notable family traits!!! If you have some old photos that you cannot identify, bring them along and maybe someone in attendance will know! Help us reconnect with our heritage by bringing a remembrance of your Fox ancestor, a handed down recipe, or a copy of a picture of your ancestor to be included in a booklet for those attending. A donation of $10.00 per adult will defray the cost of lunch and use of the facilities. RESERVATIONS are needed in order to have the correct number of meal tickets available. 2. Jeanne & Tom Sander
    3. We just visited Camp Alleghany last week. It is very much in operation, just as it has been for 76 years. It is on the east side of the Greenbrier River and just north of US Route 60 near Caldwell (between Lewisburg and White Sulphur Springs). Access is from the west side of the river; you drive north on the road on the west side of the river, then cross to the camp via boat or barge. About 200 girls were happily involved in Camp activities. They would have been happier still if there was more water in the river. The level is quite low due to continuing drought conditions.
