Candy Shillingburg's trascription of news from the December 26, 1913, Grant County Press includes this item. http://www.wvgenweb.org/mineral/conews3jan1914.htm "We learn that a daughter of Michael Stump, of Pansy, was right badly hurt on last Saturday. Our information is to the effect that she took dinner to where some people were cutting saw logs and in some manner one of the logs rolled over her." Can anyone on this list identify which Michael Stump this is and what the name of his daughter is? Frances Van Scoy, Morgantown, WV FrancesVanScoy@aol.com

Robert Russell was born in Scotland 1877. In 1881 he and his family came to the USA. He and Nettie Jane Kelley, Daughter of William M and Martha Lewis Kelley, were married in Tucker county 1900. Sometime a little later Robert and Nettie came to Henry, and Robert went to work in the coal mine. At least one of their children Virginia B Russell was born in Henry July of 1907. Does anyone have any knowledge of the Russell family including Robert's parents and siblings? Thank you very much! Ray Harlow Elida, Ohio
Gary, I found John W Myers born 1859 WV & Sarah A in the 1900 cen. They only had James A (3) and Luisa C (1) at the time. It says Union District (East Side) Grant, WV. Then I found a John W in Keyser town (mineral county) as a boarder and he was 21 yrs old at the time. Maybe the name did change but I think they may have moved and missed a census at some point in the area. Also found same name in the Elk district which would be Mineral Co. Will keep checking as time allows. I haven't looked at a map, but sometimes another county seat is closer to "me" than "my" county seat, so report everything there instead of to the "proper autorities." That would especially hold true if it was a harder trip (esp by horse) to "my" proper county seat. There would also be the idea that I have more business in the "wrong" county seat, and it is just easier to report it when I am in town. Jeff Carr of TX Gary, I am going to look for these names on ancestry. They must have been born in Grant Co. but their address could have been Laurel Dale. I am trying to help a friend with research. His Burzy Zacot (Jacot) is in the Grant Co Census in 1880 living with his Parents F G & Eliza Jacot along with his sister Lucy. In the 1990 Census he is living with Elizabeth Webb as her nephew. Elizabeth's husband was James Webb. Love letters were found when tearing down a house by the Fountain Flour Mill in Williamsport from Bess Cunningham to Burzy Zacot (Jacot). Also, mentioned in the will of James Webb, was C C Marshall and C E Martin. Am interested on anyone that might have information on these families. Thanks Patti
