Fellow SEMA CC's: Please make sure you read this proposed amendment carefully before you vote. The intended purpose, I believe, was to remove the requirement in our bylaws for a representative from a census project to sit on the Advisory Board. This seat has been vacant for several years since the census project was removed as a special project of The USGenWeb Project by a previous NC. In addition to cleaning up this point in the Bylaws - which we had been in violation of for several years - it also removes the seat filled by a Tombstone Project representative and leaves one seat on the advisory board which will be filled by someone representing ALL special projects. Discussions took place on this proposal in January of this year and this link is to a post by Cyndie Enfinger which points out the membership numbers in all areas of the project - http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/BOARD/2005-01/1107138264 So, in order to be compliant with the Bylaws by removing the census project rep seat on the board, we also have an amendment which removes the Tombstone project's seat and allows for one seat to represent all special projects. This will reduce the number of reps seated on the advisory board by two. In making your decision on this amendment to the Bylaws it might be helpful to read the accompanying thread of messages to the link above. If you have any questions, feel free to write to me or anyone you know who is a member of a special project to get their views on this amendment.
