I am presenting the below for AB debate and member input regarding the establishment of a special committee strictly for the help and counseling to county/local coordinators. Sincerely, Mike ---------------- The motion would have the Advisory Board establish a County/Local Coordinator Facilitator Committee operating under these guidelines/rules: 1] The purpose of the committee is to establish a website or USGW sub-website whose sole function is to help coordinators in their efforts as volunteers in coordinating and publishing local genealogical research, research efforts and resources. 2] The website will contain specialties such as web site guidelines, tips, and aids in the establishment, development, and maintenance of web site pages, query systems, search utilities, etc. It will also include assistance areas such as recruiting volunteers in transcribing, lookups, etc.; helps in developing working relationships with local genealogical/historical societies; interaction with other coordinators; understanding and involvement in other research areas, ie., mailing lists; links to election rules, bylaws, standard rules; and so on. The committee will include the USGW Help Pages (in any format) and publish sound/proven conclusions on the website. The committee will provide one-on-one help/counseling to those coordinators struggling to get started in their volunteer efforts. 3] The committee will be established as a Special Committee then with any subsequent historical success converted to a USGW Standard Committee in accordance with the current USGenWeb bylaws/rules. 4] The committee will be comprised of nine county/local members who do not hold a state or national USGW office.
