I don't like the idea of a Financial Manager, either. I would hope the "fact finding group" will also research the possibility of filing for non-profit without filing for 501(c3) which means there would be no need for a financial manager. Let's keep in mind that this is just a "fact finding group" who will present the Board with a list of the facts about non-profit that they've researched. Something as important as whether to file for non-profit and which level of non-profit should be a decision the entire membership gets to vote on, not just the "Advisory" Board.
