This should have been titled Mailing List. I sent it before I was ready. Only 20 or 21 of those CCs are subscribed to the Google Groups for WVGenWeb. We need all WVGenWeb County Coordinators to sign up to the list since Rootsweb will shat down the lists on March 2nd. Hello WVGenWeb CCs, Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. This is bad news. I do not like using google groups but it looks like it is necessary. There are several of the County Coordinators who did not sign up with google groups when I formed the group a few years ago. It is necessary as Rootsweb is shutting down the lists according to their announcement. Les
Hello WVGenWeb CCs, The pages are back up. If you see something missing from your pages, ask Connie or me before uploading the file(s). Send us just the name of the file and its extension. Hopefully nothing is missing that is needed. It has been a long process and we hope not to go through this again. Hello CCs, I have removed the last three malware that the last scan has found. Bluehost is in the process of scanning the massive directory now. It will take about two hours. Hopefully they will not find any more. Les

Connie and I remove the *,php files and removed the .bak.bak from index file. I have been online the Bluehost Tech Support for over an hour. Just waiting for them to complete their scan and turn the site back on. Les On 1/6/2020 4:42 PM, Cathy wrote: > Margaret, something happened on 12/31 which also affected the Harrison Co page. Margaret, something happened on 12/31 which also affected the Harrison Co page. I had to go in and delete my index page, and then upload it again. Hello WVGenWeb CCs, I very recently received an offer from Karen Newman to take on being the CC for Kanawha County WVGenWeb. She is really new and I have been working with her for a week answering questions. I need someone to volunteer to help Karen for a least the next four days. (I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon, tomorrow I have to lead the retiree meeting and we have our Thanksgiving dinner afterwards, Thursday and Friday I have the WV Chapter of the Alliance for Retired Americans Conference at Cedar Lakes and when the conference is over I have to head to Winchester, Virginia for Marie Shockey's funeral Saturday morning. The National Coordinator of The USGenWeb Project has been wandering around the Project County sites and found many that point to the USGWArchive site as org. This was changed several years ago and it should point to their URL at USGWArchives.net <http://USGWArchives.net> Please examine you pages and correct if in error. Les

It is again that time of year when we prepare for our annual USGenWeb election. If you have not previously registered to vote in the elections you need to do so now. Registration closes on May 31 at 12M centeral time – this Friday night! It is also a good idea to check to make sure that all of your regions show in your record. If any are missing you will not be able to vote in that region of the election. To check your record go to http://usgenweb.org/usgwelections/registration/regGuide.html for instruction on registering and accessing your record. SCs, if you have not notifyed the EC of new members or removed old members, the new members will not be able to vote and the old ones will still be able to vote which is not what we want so please make sure that you have updated your membership with the EC. Once we close the data set to changes you will not be able to access it until after the election. PLEASE BE FOREWARNED. DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL. THANK YOU.
