June, The family that Mike found "Jinney" living with is John E. Dempsey (b. ca. 1840 Amherst Co., VA, s/o Wilson M. Dempsey and his first wife Evalina Caroline Rhodes) and Fanny Hattie Hickman (b. ca. 1850 Greenbrier Co., (W)VA, d/o John and H. E. Hickman). They were married November 19, 1868 in Fayette County. John's parents were listed as Wilson and Pauline (the step-mother). Evalina is mentioned in her father's will in 1844 and I assume that she died before 1848. Another Radford shows up in this Dempsey line. The brothers Wilson M. and Seaton Y. Dempsey brought their families to Fayette County sometime before the 1860 census. Seaton's son George W. had a son Andrew Seton (also seen as Seton Andrew) who's daughter Hattie married I. E. Radford 24 December 1903. No further information on this individual.
