RE: Microsoft Corporation Security Center: Internet Security Update Dear Friends and Family, This morning I received an official looking email "from the Microsoft Corporation Security Center" with the subject "Internet Security Update" and the attachment "q216309.exe" advising me to install the attached executable file to update several vulnerabilities in MS Outlook/Outlook Express. The attachment is indeed a VIRUS more commonly known as the [email protected] worm/trojan horse. Please see http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected] or visit www.symantec.com Security Response center for more information about this threat. The email was NOT from Microsoft, which was my first indication. Microsoft would never send me an Update as an attachement via email unless I had requested it. DO NOT INSTALL THE q216309.exe ATTACHMENT if you receive a similar email. It will release the virus on your computer and send itself to dozens of other addresses logged in your system... including me and I really don't relish receiving dozens of this message again.
