Hi folks. I thought I should share some of what the list system will do automatically so none of you feel as though I'm picking on you personally when something "unexplained" happens. 1. If messages to the list/digest bounce from your email address three (3) times in succession for one or more reasons below, your email address is automatically unsubscribed. What reasons are there for bouncing email? - your email server is down for a period of time - your email inbox is full ("quota exceeded") - your email server doesn't recognize your account - your email account was canceled by your ISP (AOL for example) - you canceled your email account without unsubscribing it from the list 2. If a non-subscriber (often these are spammers) sends a message to the list, it comes to me instead. 3. If someone sends a message in HTML format, the system rejects it and sends the sender a "Help" message along with a notice to me. Often these are sent by "spammers" as well, so not only do they bounce, they come to me as well. 4. If someone tries to send a huge message, the system rejects it and sends me a notice along with the rejected message. 5. If someone tried to send a message with an attachment, the system rejects it and sends me a notice along with the rejected message. The best advice is: - download email from your server frequently, - keep your email account current with your ISP - unsubscribe old email address BEFORE you cancel them - never send a message in HTML format - never send a message with an attachment - never send photos Hopefully, this is not too uninteresting to read.
