The Ennis School was built in 1867. It was a log school, built by James Ennis and his brother Sherrod Ennis Jr., for children of the family and probably neighbors. It was located on Backus Mt. Road, at Red Springs, between Meadow Bridge and Backus. The following were teachers at this school. I would love to hear from anyone who might know something about these teachers. Col. Carol Was this a one-teacher school, where teachers were consecutive throughout the years? I have a M M Warren (Mathew Madison 1837-1918) who would probably qualify. He had a nephew James Basham (b. 1852) who would have been too young to teach in 1867, but could have later. I also have a William A Edler b. 1866, same situation.
