Can anyone tell me the location of the Gwinn Cemetery? I have a letter from 2-14-1898 stating that Hiram Powers Thomas died on 1-31-1898 and is buried in Gwinn. The writer stated there was a new post office called Backus where he would mail the letter and the cemetery was about seven miles from there. The Gwinn Cemetery on-line is listed as three miles below Terry on the New River but I can't find Terry on any map. I also tried to e-mail the two people listed as transcribing this cemetery for Rootsweb as they did not have Hiram listed but both came back as non-deliverable. Hiram was a country doctor in the area but was born in Jackson Co, WV before going west to Indian Territory, OK before moving back to Fayette County to practice. Terry is right on the line of Fayette and Raleigh Co's. about 3 miles north of the New River and west of Prince which is on Rt.41. I have a son-in law that is a Gwinn but he does not have a computer and a lot of his family are buried there so he has been to the cemetery many ,many times. Shirley
