    2. "In 1798 Andrew Lykens, of Kanawha county, purchased 100 acres, the lower half of this survey, from Collins. In 1807 he bought the other 100 acres, the upper half." Then says he sold the lower half to his brother, John, and increased his own holdings to almost 500 acres with purchases from a Jesse Buffington. It mentions a wife, Rebecca and in 1836 Andrew and Rebecca Lykens moved to Randolph Co., Indiana conveying 193 acres to John Lykens, Jr. and in 1842 Andrew sold 213 acres to Rich Woodrum. It talks about John Lykens and wife Polly. John died about 1824. Then it mentions that Andrew and John were probably from around Ansted and before that from Botetourt Co., VA. Their name was also spelled Lynkins. Hope this was helpful. Susan

Darlington's other book, A Record of the Early Settlement of Lower Loup Creek Fayette County, WV 1798 - 1865 lists about 75 surnames and gives a rich history of the Loup Creek area but does not include Paint Creek, Town Creek, or the Horse Creek area that my family is from. 3. Hi List, I have a photocopy of the following: Excerpts from CABINS OF THE LOOP AND ENVIRONS OF THE SOUTHERN HALF OF FAYETTE COUNTY VIRGINIA (NOW WEST VIRGINIA) by L. Neil Darlington, December 1987, McClain Printing Company, Parsons, West Virginia, 1988: "INGRAM (INGRAHAM; INGHRAM) (p. ?) James Ingram, whose wife was Margaret, daughter of John and Elizabeth Kincaid, probably settled on Loup Creek about the same time as James Kincaid, or soon after. The place he selected was at the mouth of a branch three miles farther up Loup Creek than Kincaid's cabin. The branch is now called Ingram Branch. The 120-acre tract, including Ingram's improvement, was patented by his sons, Robert and Matthew, in 1843, several years after the settlement. Whether this James Ingram is the same settler whose name was given to that other Ingram Branch opposite Cane Branch on New River has not been definitely established. The family of James and Margaret Ingram consisted of John, Matthew, Robert, Ruth and Cynthia. John and Matthew removed to Poca River. Robert married Hulda Johnson and lived at the Sonny Kincaid site, which was a part of the 120-acre grant of which he had become the sole owner." Can anyone tell me when James Kincaid settled on Loup Creek? I'd like to put a closer date on when my James Ingram moved from Greenbrier Co. (he sold a piece of land "on Meadow River and Swel on ridge opposite Buffaloe Lick" in that county in 1812) to the Loup Creek area. Cathy

There are three children listed below Harriet F. but I do not know if they belong to the Irvin Ingram family: John M. W M 8 WV WV WV Sarah F. W F 7 WV WV WV Mary S. Irvin Ingram was a grandson of James Ingram and Margaret Kincaid (d/o Thomas Kincaid and Elizabeth Hannah Gillespie). Thank you, Cathy
