    3. Sherranlynn, I seem to remember a Mae Ewing living in Page many years ago, I don't even remember her husband's name. May not even be connected to the family you are looking for. this was back in the 50's, my mother remembers more about the family than I do, I will check with her when she gets back home. Sarah skincaid@cwv.net ----- Original Message ----- From: Sherranlynn Kincaid Nichols Sent: Saturday, July 07, 2001 3:02 PM To: WVFAYETT-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [WVFAYETT] Thomas Ewing Does anyone know anything about a Thomas Ewing who may have been married to a Ruth? who was b. ab. 1820 and was living in Fay. Co. in 1850, with her children: 1850 Fayette County, Virginia Census, #532, Ewing, Ruth 30, Arrinda 10, Diana C. 8, Mary J. 7, Jas Thos. 3, Virginia 1. Could this Thomas be a brother to Diane Ewing b. abt. 1805, mar. to Samuel Kincaid, a. 1828 Mon. Co., his 3rd wife. She had a son Samuel Kincaid, b. a. 1830, and I believe he is living in Ral. Co. in 1880, no wife, but a son Silas age 9. Next door is living Jackson McDonald Ewing b. 1856 another s/o Ruth Ewing above. I've heard Ruth Ewing never married, but had children by several men. Jackson McDonald Ewing mar. a Sarah Adkins b. a. 1852. Who were her parents? Any help appreciated. 1. Re: [WVFAYETT] Thomas Ewing
    2. Hello, Went through James McMichael's book; "Alexander Ewing (1676/7-1738) & Descendants" . There were 45 notations re; Thomas Ewings. Also looked for Samuel Kincaids, Jackson Ewings and Annuria Ewings. Nothing looked like your family. e-mail address in 1999 for James McMichael was jimmcmcl@worldnet.att.net Have visited the Fayette Co. courthouse before (my husband's Fayette/Raleigh Co., names are Stover, Wilson, Fox, Bailey, Gilley, Hedrick). While he was looking for the information he was interested in I read through some misc. wills etc.. There was an estate sale or something similar for a Joseph McNutt in about 1850. Seems like there were Ewings or Porters mentioned in the record. Descend from a McNutt family who lived in Blount County, Tennessee. The family had lots of McCulloch, Ewing, Porter and Gillespie relatives. Believe most of the frontier Ewings descended from Ewings who came to America on the Eagle and settled (for a while) in Cecil Co., Maryland. Am working overtime this week, but can look for a copy of the estate record if that is helpful. Cathy Stover

I can't believe I deleted so many times. Thanks Leigh, Bet my relatives are in the large cemetary though

    2. I sent a check and ordered the original book and the second supplement on May 16, 2001. The order form states that you should expect the order in 3 - 4 weeks. I still have not received my order, nor can I get anyone at the e-mail address to respond to my e-mails. Any one have any suggestions or comments about their ordering of the reference books? Susan

    2. JoAnne & Carol; The Livelys are one of my lines. My Grt Grandmother was Malinda Elizabeth THOMPSON, dau of George Wash. Thompson Sr & Malinda LIVELY, dau of Joseph (1793-1862), s/o Cottrell jr. , etc. "Lizzie" mrd Lee Atkinson CRADDOCK. If you need help with these lines, I'll be happy to do whatever I can. Have you seen the book "Lively's of America"? & it's supplement? Many of these "specialty" books can be brought into your local library, reference dept, on interlibrary loan. Sometimes they even let me take them home!! Have you found place of burial for Malinda Lively Thompson???? We never could find that. Happy Hunting... Joyce

    1. [WVFAYETT] Cheap Markers
    2. June and listers, For what it's worth: Years ago, after finding several unmarked graves of relatives, I asked our local "famly" funeral home about the aluminum temporary markers that they used, and was told they would not sell me one or two at a time, but would order a "lot " for me. If memory serves me correctly, it was about 25. A friend and I planned to share the cost of an order, but something came up and we never followed through. Ask your local, or even Tyrees in Mt Hope, if they can do that for you. They were brushed aluminum, with a space where you were to insert the letters that make up the name. They would hold up to weather better then, say, crosses made of wood. Good luck. Joyce

    1. [WVFAYETT] Ennis Family Reunion
    2. Carol & Joseph Beattie
    3. Having seen the recent question about the confusion of the Ennis children being listed with the Ingrim family in a transcription of a census, reminds me...... The 63rd Annual Ennis Reunion will be held on Aug 12 from 11am till ? Following the family tradition, it will be held adjacent to the Ennis Family Cemetery, on Backus Mt. Road, between Meadow Bridge and Backus. A covered dish dinner will be served at 12:00, with a family portrait to be taken at 11:30. This Ennis Family is descended from William and Francis Ennis, who came to the Fayette/Greebrier area around the 1830s. Sherrod (son of William and Francis) and Easter Ennis raised their family at the location where the cemetery now sits. Just over the county line, in Greenbrier Co, were settled Sherrod's sister, Sarah and her husband, William Crawford Puckett. A third child of William and Francis, James, settled near Charleston. (The previously mentioned James William Ennis was a son of Sherrod and Easter.) We hope all Ennis Family members will join us for the reunion. For additional information, contact me, Carol Beattie, at j-cbeattie@starpower.net

    1. [WVFAYETT] Use of the List
    2. Julie McGrew-Ayres
    3. Folks, I hate to rain on anyone's parade, nor do I wish to discourage the use of this list, but it has come to my attention that individuals are unsubscribing from this list in droves. I've also received complaints about the number of emails jamming inboxes, many of them of a more personal nature. Please, please, have a heart for those to whom your subject does not apply: Reply and forward emails addressed to one individual to that individual rather than to the list. As the list administrator, I too have been receiving these messages... nearly a hundred on a daily basis. While I have unlimited space for email in my account, there are those who do not and when their inbox fills to capacity, all other emails bounce, so it isn't a simple matter of telling these folks "just delete them." Let me add that I also receive all bounced emails to the list as well... that's well over a hundred emails to the WVFAYETT-List alone. I appreciate the fun your having and hope you will continue to use the list for what it was intended... communicating with large groups of people interested in Fayette County genealogy. Let's maintain it for the enjoyment of all. Thank you. Julie McGrew-Ayres mailto:mztek@mindspring.com Fayette County WVGenWeb Admin www.rootsweb.com/~wvfayett/ WVFAYETT-List Admin

    3. Terry Do you plan to be at the courthouse doing research. If so, let me know when and I will have one dropped off there for you, or have someone meet you there. 3. Thank you John I will probably have to try writing to her again. The mail service between the States and Europe is not always reliable. I've had mail come to me via Kuwait, South Africa, and Norway so she may have written back and I never got it. It's unfortunate that she is not online.
