I just visited an uncle of mine, Harry Douglas, a descendant of Lucinda Godbey Bailey, wife of William W. Bailey of Calhoun County. Harry told me this story, which I'd never heard before, and I'm wondering if anyone can confirm it or provide more detail. W.W. Bailey was in the Civil War on the Confederate side. One day during the war, Lucinda was boiling water in a big iron kettle for scalding a hog. Federal soldiers came to the farm to steal food, etc. Lucinda pushed one of them into the pot, killing him, and of course they killed her. I didn't find Lucinda's date of death in the course of my searches, but the birthdates of her children were before the Civil War. I'd appreciate any info. === _________________________________________________________ Rhonda Keith Only You Publications: Specializing in Oral History and Family Reunions http://www.geocities.com/eureka/enterprises/1134/oyp.html Corinthians 1:27: "But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty." _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
