    3. Hi Katherine, I looked on a map I have of WV. Hominy Creek appears to be in Nicholas Co. and runs into Greenbrier Co. for a short distance. It seems to originate from Summerville Lake. I don't see any listing for Hominy Mills. There is a town named Hominy Falls, that Hominy Creek appears to run through. Chris Ruddle

    1. BUTLER FAMILY
    2. Hello everyone, This is the first time I have posted a message to this group. I was just told the other day that my grandfather Roscoe BUTLER was born in CALHOUN COUNTY. I have a cassette tape of my grandfather which he recorded his life story. I am trying to transcribe it onto paper. I was wondering if anyone has heard of a place called Hominy Mills? Or Hominy Creek? I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can offer. Thanks so much, Katherine BUTLER Pebles1061@aol.com

    1. Lookup request
    2. The people that am interested in are the Smith and Kerns families of VA. Another person has informed me that there are 2 Dudly Smiths, one from Farquier Co., Ashby District, page @239, and the other is Dudly D. Smith of Cabel Co., 10 District, page #056. These are Broderbund Cd's. I am not sure if they are related or not, so if I can get information on both, I will try to sort it out. Also, I am looking for Daniel Kerns and Jeremiah Kerns of Farquier Co., VA and other related Kerns members. Jfar171@aol.com

    3. Hi Rhonda, According to the "Cemeteries in Calhoun County West Virginia", Lucinda Bailey died 19 Sep 1925. Lucinda was also listed in the 1870 Census of Calhoun County as a 38 year old housekeeper. Neat story though, but if it happened she apparently survived the incident. 1. Cunningham history
    2. Hello, I am a Cunningham descendent thru Thomas and Phoebe's daughter, who married Isaac Collins. Recently, I read your article "Our Proud Heritage, Part 4" and have a question. (I do not have much on the Cunningham family as such - only as it pertains to my father's family line of Haddox and my mother's family of Morrison are also retlated thru the Cunninghams.) I was trying to figure out where William Cunningham - Service, VA No. 6529 fits in. He would have been abt 16 year of age for the Revolution. Is he the son of Thomas and Phoebe's son - John? Or to put it another way - Is This William the grandson of Thomas and Phoebe? Janice (jfar171@aol.com)

    3. Hi folks: Seeking marriage verification for second marriage of William Robinson (son of James and Elizabeth Davis Robinson) b. ca. 1795 and Elizabeth Ann ? (not Cunningham) b. ca. 1817 in Fauquier Co., VA. William married (1) Catherine Weaver, daughter of Henry Weaver and Abigail Griggs, 11 Nov 1815. Catherine apparently died prior to 1846 for at that time Uriah Weaver (Catherine's brother) is purchasing land from the estate of their father. Catherine is not mentioned, but it appears that her interest in the land is being purchased from her (Catherine's) heirs (see Barbour Co. Deeds, Vol. 2, pg. 70). William appears with a wife, Ann, in the 1850 Gilmer Co. Census and wife, Elizabeth, in 1860 Calhoun Co. Census. Other variations of her name are also to be found. Family migrated to Calhoun Co. from Barbour Co before 1850. Family living in Calhoun in 1846. Any help appreciated. Norma Knotts Shaffer norma@wvadventures.net
