He home was located in South Central Germany about 1-1/2 miles from Switzerland. He landed in New Orleans in 20Jan. 1820 along with his wife, Catherine Rouf, Michael Christopher Seiz, John Seiz, Catherine Seiz & Adolpheus Seiz. How they traveled up the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers to Va. (W.Va.) has not been established yet. They should appear in the 1820 Census along the route. When Christoph left Germany, he was 37 years old, had green eyes, light brown hair, 1 meter, 75-80 cen. (5"10") tall and had lost his teeth, both top and bottom. He had a long face, healthy complexion, soft cheek, proportionate mouth and straight legs. His children, Michael Christ. was 8 yrs. old, John was 7 years old, Catherine was 3 yrs old, Adolphos 3 months old. He settled on 40 acres of land on nine mile creek, Cabell Co., Va. (Lincoln Co., W.Va.) to this he added 63 more acres. His! signature on his passport, and later his son becoming a school teacher, would indicate that he was an educated man. His wife, Catherine Rouf must have died shortly after arriving here in America. He later married Sarah Peyton and had additional children. During those early years, his name changed from Seiz, to Seitz, to Cites, to Sites and finally Scites. Received land grants for his property from Virginia.
