    3. NANCY HEATH (1814-1870) m. William Burke ‘Burk’ MCCOMAS (1810-1893). They were both born in Cabell Co., VA. met and married there. Known as ‘Burk’ McComas he was the son of Moses McComas and Lucy (Napier) McComas. Five of Moses McComas’s children married five of Israel Heath’s children in Cabell Co., VA before both families moved to Missouri around 1839-1840. Burke was a ‘tall person, and of powerful frame; his judgement was sound, and his influence extensive.’ On 1 May1846 Burke McComas recorded the purchase of 160 acres in Township 52-N of Platte Co., MO. This property was adjacent to the 40 acres in township 52-N recorded by James Heath, eldest son of Israel Heath. (Waldron Township, Platte Co MO) Both ‘Burk’ and Nancy (Heath) McComas are buried in the McComas Cemetery, Platte, Co. MO. His tombstone reads ‘Burk’ McComas. Nancy died first 13 July 1870 and Burke survived her by 23 yrs, died 2 Dec 1893. Several other McComas’s recorded property in adjacent Township 51, Platte Co. MO. around this time. Moses McComas recorded 29.75 acres on 1 Apr1846, Sanders W. McComas recorded 114.13 acres on 10 June1848, Hiram McComas 144.06 acres on 1 Apr1848 and a George McComas 131.52 acres on 10 Aug1848. They are all adjacent lands. These are all names of the father of William Burke ‘Burk’ McComas who was Moses McComas, and also some of his brothers. But they are also names given to William Burke ‘Burk’ McComas’s own sons. The following was found regarding a Sanders McComas in Platte Co. MO in the 1885 History of Clay and Platte Counties: Thomas B Duncan (farmer, stock-raiser and dealer) and Sanders McComas: ‘During the past year he and his partner Mr. Sanders McComas, shipped from Platte City, 110 car loads of hogs and cattles...five miles SE of Platte City is located the farm of Mr. Duncan.’ I believe this reference is to Nancy’s son Sanders who married William Richard’s daughter, Lucy J. Heath. The only other Sanders I’m aware of was the brother of Burk who was in Kansas by this time. Four of Nancy’s children served in the 39th Regiment, Infantry, Union Army in the Civil War (Pembroke, Stephen, Elisha and James). Three of the four were sent home discharged due to disability. Their children: Pembroke McCOMAS (1833-1927), m.1852 Eliza Jane KERR (1830-1908). He was a farmer near Ridgely, MO. Died in Platte Co. MO. Both buried Mt. Zion Cemetery, Edgerton, MO. Stephen McCOMAS (b. 4 Jan1835-1913), m. 20 March1855 Virginia BYRD (1834-1897). Stephen became a Justice of the County Court in 1886. He died in Platte Co. MO.
