Nancy Burke Guess it is time for me to ask about my Ephraim Simmons, again. He was living in Cabell Co. (W)VA at the time of his death ca 1821.. His wife was Elizabeth Callaway Simmons. Ephraim was the second son of Joel Simmons and Jane/Jennie/Jean Thompson Simmons. He was born 17 Oct. 1782 in(possibly) North Carolina or Albemarle Co.,VA..or ?. He married Elizabeth Callaway, daughter of Zachariah Callaway and Ellender Boyd Callaway 19 Oct 1802 in Monroe Co., (W)VA. He was in the 1820 Census of Cabell Co. (W)VA The Census wasn't completed until April of 1821 (I have been told) I know nothing about his cause of death, or place of burial. His wife and children went to Indiana shortly after his death. Elizabeth remarried. George Christ. He was described as 'very poor' prior to his death. I have wondered if he just abandoned his family but have never found anything to support that idea. He may have met with an accident since he wa only 39 years of age. Anyone have any ideas?
